Hehe, well I AM one of the all-time patch masters for Synth1, that's obvious! :) But I tend to keep my masterpieces to myself. I wasn't saying the majority of Synth1 patches are weak to make my efforts seems more glorious. I was just stating my opinion that there's much more to the synth than the majority of patches reflect. Sorry if that annoys you, but that's how I see it. Like I say, mostly just too much duplication of sounds and patches where the delay and chorus do too much of the work. But, that's just my 2 cents. I think lovers of beeps and growls would see my POV differently. What style of music you're creating makes a large diff in how you might perceive the current ocean of patches.

The position of your master volume knob makes no difference in patch creation (but it's a start), it's the level of overall output! I always make my patches output to around -12db which I find to be a perfect starting point to layer and build tracks upon. There's nothing more annoying than sampling through a bank of patches where you have to turn the volume way up (or even worse, down!) on every patch! This patch output parameter is something ALL patch creators should keep in mind, if possible.Teksonik wrote:What is your Synth 1 Master Volume knob set to? These patches are considerably quieter than most other banks, Nolween's Annabelle bank especially. I keep my master volume at 64 or 12 o'clock.bwwd wrote:i played 3 note chords on patches and tried to keep the volume at 70-88 % with db meter in fl.I agree nolwenn slow strings patch in his bank is realy great but i couldt find this patch on the website only on the banks in synth1users yahoo group.Like one of his banks is only on yahoo group.

lol+1 because i know teksoniks patches are great. rsmus7 has an excellent pads for u bank. i honestly cant say i agree with the 6 solid patch banks you mentioned. synth1 because of its ease of use and simplicity of design makes it rediculously capable. the real secret to synth1s incredible versatility is in layering patches.Teksonik wrote:Really? Perhaps you could grace us with some of yours so we can learn from a patch master.SciFiArtMan wrote: Unfortunatley I find MOST of the available patches for Synth1 are just not very good at all.

synth 1 can do incredibly awsome bass. i think of it not as a single synth but as a gigantic unlimited capibility monster. its decent when used alone but incredibly powerful when layered.
heres a preview of my new song. trance. still dry

You guys rave about synth 1, but I haven't been very impressed with the patches yet. I noticed the lack of pads as well. Whenever I try a new vsti, I go right for the pads. I'll try these pads out and see what's doing with them.

Well, your lol+1 is cute and meaningful, and I don't care to continue blabbering about Synth1 patch quality beyond this. I didn't mention which banks I thought were weak, but draw your own conclusions, I guess. The fact that Nolween's fine patches stand out in a sea of 1000s of patches and 100s of designers demonstrates that many of the other banks failed to make as deep an impression on the community as this one person's work. If you believe MOST of the banks for Synth1 show its full potential then there's nothing anyone can say to change that. But the truth is, there's lots more inside Synth1 that has not been explored in the public patches available for it. Again, it probably comes down to what any one person is looking for in a patch/bank and the style of music you're creating.chicken muffin wrote:lol+1 because i know teksoniks patches are great. rsmus7 has an excellent pads for u bank.
But strong or weak (for my needs), I still appreciate the efforts of all those who make their patch creations available to us all!
PS - CM, your comments about multi-instances and layering are right on the money! That's the beauty and benefit of such a small CPU bite!

Right. Just as I thought, talking smack. By your own admission there are "100's" of people who have created patches for Synth1. You just insulted them all by saying that after 5 years none of them has learned the mystical secrets of Synth1 that you have discovered. Fair enough then why don't you share some of your mystical patches with us so that we may learn? Seriously if you've discovered sounds that no one else has after 5 years don't you think you owe it to the community to share? Share like Ichiro Toda shared Synth1, like all the sound designers who have spent many hours creating patches have shared? I would love to listen and learn from them as I'm sure most other users of Synth 1 would as well. That's if you're not talking smack.SciFiArtMan wrote: But I tend to keep my masterpieces to myself.
Proof ?SciFiArtMan wrote:But the truth is, there's lots more inside Synth1 that has not been explored in the public patches available for it.
So if you use a master vol of say 120 to get your -12 db and I use a master vol of 64 what will happen when I try your patches?SciFiArtMan wrote: The position of your master volume knob makes no difference in patch creation

thats thats very true to an extent. synth 1 has much new sounds to be yet discovered with its layering capabilities. but as far as single patches are concerned, i think the heart of or the sound behind synth1 has been discovered fully
