Hey guys.

I recently bought me the M-Audio NRV10 Firewire Audio interface/ analog mixer. I currently run Winows Vista.

So I downloaded the newest drivers for Vista and followed the instrucions from the manual (didn't plug the firewire jack in before finishing innstalling etc), and got ready to try it.
When I open the M-Audio firewire menu it says something like: Press start and make shure the firewire jack isn't plugged in. OK- check.
Then it says: Plug the firewire jack in and press the "enable" button. Ok- check, but now something strange happens. The PC SHUTS DOWN and I get a bluescreen up saying that windows encured a problem.

I don't know what this problem is, but it seems like maybe Windows Vista is protecting itself from unknown devices or something and just shuts down....

PLEASE, can anyone help me??? The support on the M-Audio website is really bad, they don't even have a forum where I can write something like this.

My faith is in the people here! :)

yep - use XP lol - A lot of Vista drivers are still Beta. Its too early to expect Vista to be stable under all circumstances until at least SP1.

It says here that you need to make sure the device is connected before you start that device enabler thing, then disconnect when it says to, then reconnect when it says to.

I had the same problem, but when I followed the instructions in the link above everything worked fine.

I've tried this... and as you see in step 6 it says: the Device Enabler does not disappear when connecting/powering on the device, click "Enable Device".

When I do this the DAMN PC still shuts off!!! Argh this is incredibly frustrating. Can it be some functions on Vista that try to protect itself by shutting down or something?

This is the mail I got from the M-Audio people....

There could be several reasons for this type of problem, and this is possibly due to an IRQ resource sharing issue on your system which you can check in your device manager, however a call to our tech support department should ensure a quick solution.

Does anyone know what the problem might be, and if so, how I can fix this in Vista?
