i have a k-station and when i got to try the v-station i found that the filters weren't as sharp as the hardware. i'd still buy the v-station though for convenience and because it was fairly identical in sound overall.Tronam wrote:I suspect you are thinking of V-Station vs. K-Station. What kind of software do you have?Shy wrote:The difference is easily and very noticeable. Plainly, their software sounds like crap compared to their hardware.

No I meant BassStations, I own the Hardware Keyboard Version and the VST Version and they are about 98% Identical in sound.Tronam wrote:I suspect you are thinking of V-Station vs. K-Station. The hardware Bass Station, on the other hand, was a genuine analog synthesizer and as an ex-owner, the VSTi version only hints at the originals character. Regardless, it is still a fun and usable bass oriented virtual instrument, though its extremely limited feature set may be off putting to most folks these days.BFunKu wrote:Absolutely Identical Soundwise

I own both the BassStation Rack and the VSTi. I agree with some of the comments here- they sound pretty close to each other, but the software fails at high resonance. This is typically where emulations fail, even decent ones like the MS-20.
More importantly, I've never been too thrilled with the sound of the BassStation. I find it weak and underwhelming, compared to just about any other analog synth in my collection. The only reason I keep it around is because it doesn't take up much room!

Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

I find it can sound pretty "fat" especially when you crank the resonance up and the cutoff down (for those deep basses). The filter is nice but I think the oscillators could be stronger... I own quite a few other analogs too and compared to my mc-202 for example I find the basstation a tad more powerful sounding.

The plugin sounds like garbage in comparison to the hardware. Try to get the software to sound like this:
www.scherer.de/Download/WhatIsIt.wav
I made it with a Bass Station I paid for only a little more than 100 €.

i picked up a Bass Station rack for 65 euros-
Analogue synth with patch memory - with external audio input - makes cool unexpected noise - analogue flavour for 65 euros
My favourite thing about vst is that its made 90's hardware so cheap.
Sound wise the plugin is not the same. I imagine you could get many many free vst's at this stage that would do similar stuff.
