I have a boss gt3 effect processor and would like to be able to use it in my daw and apply it to my tracks. I know this possible, do I need an outboard mixer or something?

Another thing I tought might be possible is running the outputs on my presonus firebox and put them into the boss effects then route that back into the inputs of the presonus. Would that have any decent sound quality or even be possible? :help:

Yes it is possible but i know how todo it in Cubase. You are logic. EMU cards does have one fine plugin just for that. Using outboard gear in your daw. But that is only for emu owners...ok i did not help you :nutter:

Would a presonud firebox not be good for this? If its not I would consider a better option.

I know not much about this routing but I would like to have a crystal clear signal with no audio compromise.

The only real problem here is that the GT3 as far as i can tell only accepts guitar input. Maybe it's possible to change that,i don't know. So there'll be a level and possibly an impendance matching problem. But i think just lowering the volume to it should do just fine. Be very careful though,as line signal are much higher than guitar signals.

Logic even has a plugin to facilitate this. It's called (i think) IOhelper or something similar. In it you can choose which IO pair it should work on. Choose 3/4 and connect the GT 3 to those IOs. I don't know wether or not it has a volume trim. That is the whole problem. Because if it has'nt the GT 3 will have a serious volume mismatch where it takes in guitar signals and delivers line level signals which are much louder. There's also a mono in/stereo out problem. I'm not sure the IOHelper can facilitate this. Check the manuals on both the GT3 and the IOHelper and i'll help you out the best i can.

Thanks jupiter, So even if I could get the gt3 sounding good would a presonus firebox be a good way to get the sounds in ?

I don't see why it should'nt be.

My personal view on this whole ADA conversion thingie is that all converters nowadays are so good which one you use does'nt matter much. I think people put way to much thought into this. Or it could just be i'm halfdeaf or never heard a really good one. :hihi:

Line output -> reamp box -> GT3 guitar input
