honestly why do people debate the sound quality of a host?

word against word - nothing else - like i said i've made tests and that's only reason why i believe what i believe.
It's nothing to do with word against word, we've all made the tests. I've been involved in at least four threads which have ended in nulling tests on kvr. Without exception the've shown no differences above any conceivable noise floor.

If you've made such tests and proven otherwise, paste the results.
i already did on page 6 or 7.
That was a nulling test was it?

Meffy wrote:*ponder* Could someone invert this thread and null it against a previous host flamewar thread?
Yes.

The danger is that kvr itself might cease to exist as a result.

I for one am not willing to take that risk.

what i tested was this: loaded in same audio and composed the same thing with both apps without any twaeks or plugins and i checked that there was no filters etc affecting the sound.

We'll leave that wave function uncollapsed then, and keep on surfing. Erm... cowabunga?

Close but no cigar. You're comparing apples with oranges. Or the sound of the Reason sampler with straight audio playback which is not the same thing. But i'll give you that. There's is a difference between playing an audiofile in the Reason sampler vs. straight playback. But that's not what we're discussing here. And to top it off just because you came to the conclusion that there's a difference could just be you've done the test wrong. It does'nt necessarily prove anything.
EDIT: If we both do the exact same test and mine cancel out and yours does'nt,the odds that mine does out of pure coincidence is just miniscule compared to the chance you've messed something up. Like a billion to one or something.

and it turned out that there was tiny differences.

If you compare an apple to an orange there's going to be a tiny difference as well. See above.

To be fair thought I don't remember any of those test, on this board or on the many others where such test were done that I've read, involving Reason so all conclusions involving that one "host" seem to stem from presumption rather than true rigorous scientific testing. I still don't believe it to be different but it's just that, a belief.

And there was this version of Cubase, can't remember which at this very minute but it was old (before the SX serie I believe), which had a bug in it's render engine (quickly fixed by Steinberg) and summing from that one single version were showing difference with all the others.
No, that wasn't me.

Which, if they exist, are easily measurable by nulling. Then we don't have to rely upon your (or anybody elses) ears.
You do realise how fallible your ears are don't you? Here's a clue, there's a whole branch of science devoted to it called psychoacoustics.

Beeblebrox was right. "Something to do" is the correct answer to the OP's question.

You could be right. All that those who believe you aren't require is proof. It's easily done, this argument unlike say "what's the best synth" is open to testing.
