Wild guess: side-chaining compression...

Talking about the ProphetVS .. anyone know where I can find this: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1502.html ? The developers website is gone!

I think especially with that style of music analog stuff and filters will work much better.
why?
In that music style you are putting relative few instruments together.
And soundquality is important.
Especially the second track's bass has a punch and presence, I think its hard to find something like this in digital world.
Thats exactly what people have in mind when they start a thread like "why does digital bass suck?" :)

That LA lead sound with delay and .... should be not too difficult to produce with VSTi

Based on frequency or track?
You want to compress the rest when the bass is high right?
Still, it has that certain, je ne sais pas, that makes it have little "puffs" on the attack.

yay! i like this kind of music, and have made some attempts to make this kind of stuff. i think it's basically short chords through lfo filter with dub delays and reverbs. don't know which synth is best though, i use samples of analog synths, just the ones that sound nice ;)

as for the effects, i think it's nice to put effects on the effects, like phase on the delay or reverb. i think sometimes they put the noise with the bass and kick and compress it so the noise comes up between the bass-stuff. but other that that, i don't know much about the bass.

if you like this kind of music you should check out deepchord. he's doing some serious stuff these days.

you can also check out my stuff here:

Deepchord is actaully a bunch of people ;) they release anonomously under deep chord. (I found this out when I met one of the men who pretned to be Deep chord.)

Didn't know that project was still on-going!

ah ok.. I wasn't sure actually, but my friend told me it was just Rod Modell these days. But their stuff is still really good, none the less. :)

No, Deepchord is Rod Modell and Mike Schommer. However, there is a label called DeepChord - maybe you're getting confused.

it's mainly Rod. he's the one with the crazy studio full of very high end vintage equipment. and lots of analog synths. nothing made on computers. all outboard.

I stand corrected.

try setting insert effects' wet level and its incoming sound level at very low volume, then compress it to normal volume
