Aciddose, are you still planning on releasing linux vst version of xhip?

Thought I'd download xhip to see how far its come since I deleted it earlier this year.
Must say I was rather disappointed that in many ways the synth appears to have taken a few steps backwards.
Tried saving a few patches only to find that when I re-opened them in my host the patches were missing many tweaks
Yeah I know its a free synth so I shouldn't complain but its still kind of sad to see the development of xhip taking a bit of a fall.
The much criticized interface has hardly changed either which seems rather odd especially given the roasting AD gave AQ about Polyanna's.

i've never given any roasting, and not only has the gui hardly changed but the whole synth has hardly changed in the last six months.
lately my time has been spent elsewhere http://xhip.cjb.net/hardware/

i have no hope for a new xhip GUI...i think AD simply hates workin on the GUI and never will get round to it.(the xhip gui might be ugly but at least its usable...which cant be said for polyana's)aquar wrote: The much criticized interface has hardly changed either which seems rather odd especially given the roasting AD gave AQ about Polyanna's.
i really hope though we get a final 1.0 version soon...or a locked verrsion.....and then just get on makin music/sound with it. the wait has been long.

Yeah a locked version that comes with a bunch of working presets/starting points wouldn't go amiss._starcraft_ wrote: i have no hope for a new xhip GUI...i think AD simply hates workin on the GUI and never will get round to it.(the xhip gui might be ugly but at least its usable...which cant be said for polyana's)

Truth be told AD has cooked his goose as far as I am concerned, there's not much point in supporting a synth when the developers heart isn't in it. Xhip is a busted flush these days.Shame really as it had a bit of potential.
gsoto thx for the version advice but I am officially sacking xhip as my free test synth, it simply don't cut the mustard these days

Well, I still think it's usable at its current state. It's already capable of a lot, it's just the intended plans for it hasn't been reached.
And besides, if aciddose really can't be arsed to work on this anymore, he may have shared the source code by now. :\

If it's such a shame, why are you so happy about it? Your whole post sounds like an immature attempt at provoking aciddose into keeping on with the synth.aquar wrote:Yeah a locked version that comes with a bunch of working presets/starting points wouldn't go amiss.

The version Gsoto listed will load and save presets and banks made with that version, has a plain but serviceable GUI, has the great sound quality which has always been Xhip's focus and is bolted together with more than enough features needed to make some good patches. What's wrong with that?
Finally, the last updated version was, what, July 13th or something? Hardly abandoned.

robenestobenz,
Not sure why you would think that I am provoking AD "into keeping on with the synth" when the reality is I couldn't give a flying f**k if he abandons xhip or not. As I said it would be a shame nothing more nothing less.
Talking of presets where are they coz I sure as hell couldn't find any.
and yes I did look.
Now regarding the sound quality ...all I can say is I am not much of a geek, I don't spend all my time hooked into a spectrum analyzer zooming in and salivating at a pretty picture.
All I am interested in is making tunes and beats and the current batch of vsti's I use including several free ones are up to snuff for my purposes. In other words I am not a sonic snob unlike your goodself
