That wouldn't be a geek, that'd be a moron. Funnily enough, it's often MUSICIANS that are fussed about sound quality. Be it guitar tone or a synth patch.

Right... my most used synth is KarmaFX by the way, so I'm definitely not a sonic snob. You're an ignoranamus who thinks nice sounds make for pretty spectrums though.

:D

I can't understand all this fuss about the GUI. I'd use Xhip even if it had no GUI at all :D.

Listen, don't look! You'll discover a whole different dimension of sound and how plugins *really* sound. Ears can be deceived by the pretty GUI or the ugly GUI for that matter...

Cheers!

aquar, seems that Tue Sep 19, 2006 2:39 pm was too long ago for you to remember, so I'll just remind you.
aquar, stop talking out of your ass dude :P

I've read some of your previous post history, so I know you're not a total dick or anything. But why do you gotta be like this?

Why do folks just have to mess with these xhip threads? :?

I am not hijacking the xhip thread if that is what you are suggesting.?
If you want me to be a sycophant I am afraid no can do :D
Besides its a public forum and I am entitled to my opinion.

Honestly I wouldn't really worry about it much more...like I said I've officially sacked xhip as my freeware test synth and moved onto pastures new.
Oatmeal is the new kid in town now! :D

Doesn't seem like hijacking at all. The guys comments seem right in line with this thread title. Maybe he should pay special attention to the word please though . . .

Xhip would gain a lot of mileage with me as well with a stable 1.0 release.

Well, maybe I'm a little quick on the trigger this mornin'. If so, I apologize for shooting the messenger.

Post

+1 for 1.0 release.

Post

Is this one good for supersaw sounds?

aciddose, is there any way to add a stereo width parameter to unison to get true stereo sounds ?

Love your synth!

xhip v1 ! :hail:
Must be time to download it... and try it in a fex months :D

"is there any way to add a stereo width parameter to unison to get true stereo sounds"

no, but there will be soon with event routing / unison diffusion.

you can currently though use an lfo to pan with the sample/hold or random waveforms at a very low rate. use a high rate until you get the panning you want then set the rate to zero.

btw the version 1.0 thing i just renamed the latest version to 1.0. if all you want is a 1.0 version then that is all you've got to do. if you however want other features, you'll have to wait :hihi:

hi aciddose,

thanks alot for your efforts !

btw: xhip.v1 seems to be adxhip.0.6.12.0 and not adxhip.0.6.13.5

vista :)

Post

That's how it should be. It is the latest stable release. Any other version is by definition, an unstable release candidate.

Post

well technically revisions can be stable or unstable, they're just minor versions which dont actually count as releases. the last alpha was considered stable although i've fixed quite a few bugs since that. if you're referring to the fact it is a revision of an alpha version however, yes you're completely correct, all alpha versions should be considered unstable. you're a bit incorrect about 0.6.12.0 then though, since it too is an alpha version ;)

anyway, hopefully i can get some more work in. i've really just been doing so many other things lately and spending most of my free time working on hardware stuff. there is at most one afternoon/evening of work on xhip before we get to the "patch format stable" part, and maybe a couple more before the other stuff gets implemented. things really just fall into place once you make space for them, so that is all i have to do at the moment.

it'll be really nice to have a 'finished' beta that i can post news for, on kvr and other sites. gsoto i hope you're prepared when people cry about the gui and i say 'gsoto did it' :hihi:
