Drums as fast as this on any non-pro keyboard?

Hello.

I was wondering if you could play like , with any beginner keyboard, I'm talking axiom, xboard, even the $400 edirol?


I dont know if the fact he uses a yamaha might make a difference? (being high quality perhaps? I dunno, never hear about yamaha's here).

Im wondering because if I could potentially trigger drums that fast (ok, the speed in that video is as much as I'd like to so let's not get into "oh.. that guy is slow and he sucks" or something ), then my keyboard dilemma would be almost solved not being tied to a drumpad controller or trigger pads on a keyboard

Obviously I'm not talking about my fingers but rather the speed through midi controllers, don't know if the data wouldn't be sent so fast on non-pro keyboards or something.

It's more to do with what latency your soundcard is capable of, not your keyboard ...

Oh ok, so response is fast on any controller out there.

Now thecontrolcentre, when you talk about soundcard I get confused. What does it have to do? I mean, if I connect a keyboard via USB then it sends MIDI signals to the host application, where does the latency of my soundcard come into play?
I thought, if midi is fast enough to send the data and the software to process it, then the output is irrelevant?

spend $50 on an old Alesis HR16 and practice a little.
you can invest the rest in a decent, fast audio interface.

thecontrolcenter, well, me being the absolute n00b that I am, I kinda know what latency is, and I do have an audio interface, the UX1, which turned out to be great for my guitar recording.

Its interesting though, as I didn't know MIDI had latency or just forgot I dunno, but then I guess anyway my playback soundcard, the onboard chip, is going to take a fast playing the same way as if I was doing a fast solo on my electric guitar (and that is, hopefully for MIDI, almost no latency to my ears).
