Thanks Paul, Greg + Aldo for a lovely ManyBass collection. It sounds absolutely terrific and brings out new music from me - you feel the software is working with you rather than you having to struggle with all the way.
Now to import ManyGuitar soundsets onto the Mac - thanks for all the help.

Hi Neville
Thanks! Great to hear you got it all going. We are undergoing a server change so our email is down at this moment. I apologize as I may have lost email communication with you until the dust settles and our new server is in full swing.
Did you get your ManyGuitar soundsets working in your ManyBass?
Thanks a ton for the feedback here. We love to hear it!

Yes - ManyGuitar soundsets work fine in ManyBass. It's puzzled by the presets though, but the ManyBass presets are OK. It's completely liveable-with, nonetheless, so thanks.
Another pat on the back: the FreeZone drumkits are v. usable and refreshing, especially the multiple crash/plaiste notes. No pain to set up, joy to use.
Finally, let me put in my ten-cents worth regarding the trade-off between layering (the four slots) and multiple articulations (again in the four slots). If the number of slots is to be kept small to keep the plugin CPU-lean then I'm all in favour of assigning them to key-switched articulations, one at a time. If there's room to expand slots - especially once more than 2GB of RAM can be addressed by an app - then I'm in favour of adding layering options within a single instance of the plugin. But please don't compromise on articulations.
Best

Hi noach
Glad you got it all set up and working there, and thanks for the comments.
First ....ManyGuitar presets will not load in ManyBass. The presets are specific to the instrument. This is the same for all instruments no matter who they are from....presets are specific to the VST itself. In your case of loading all the ManyGuitar soundsets into the Mac ManyBass, you'll just have to make your own presets using the soundsets which is very easy to do in ManyBass. That until the Mac ManyGuitar comes out anyways
As for the layers versus keyswitches - well ManyStation does layers but ManyBass was designed to use Keyswitches as layering Bass sounds just didn't really make sense. It could leads to phase troubles and just bad tones coming through. For this reason ManyBass benefits better as a Bass instrument from using Keyswitches. As for the Ram issue, using Keyswitches or layers will not affect that as they both will still load into Ram. It was about designing this instrument to be the best Bass we could make, and Keyswitches were what was needed and made more sense here.
That said.... We've always got something up our sleeves here, and we'll improve ManyBass even more. That I can assure.

Good point about bass phase problems - always first port of call armed with a low-cut filter in setting up the mix. Sonic Reality have a pretty good shot at layered bass sounds in SR Triple Bass R3, however.
Now all I have to say is: nonetheless don't compromise the great sounds whatever your plans are.

As Paul says, it's not really something done, layering basses. I mean, in the 80's there were some synth bass layered with real bass--bands like the Yellowjackets did stuff like that on their first few albums. Jaco did it a bit, too, I believe.
But it's a lot more practical to just load up two instances of ManyBass, because then you're not stuck with the layering being exactly the same. What I mean is, if you're layering a real bass soundset with a synth bass, the real bass MIDI part will have bassisms added: fret noises, and whatnot. Whereas the synth bass should just be playing the bass notes, no little noises and effects going on there.
