obviously you know nothing about VANGELIS and his feelings about computer music production. Actually he is telling exactly the same things I am saying here
. And I am sure if he was participating in our conversation with a nickname , you whould have called him stupid as well

im guessing you dont get out much?
in recent years i have witnessed many artists/acts utilising laptops within their performance. from the likes of kraftwerk and autechre using nothing but laptops exclusively. bands like the flaming lips using reaktor live in songs with guitars, death metal bands using guitar rig instead of fx stacks...
want me to carry on?
for you to say computers arent taken seriously by pro musos(how much work have you turned down recently btw) is false. just because on the yamaha page has gushings from a few well known producers doesnt make it special, ive seen rick wakeman with my own two eyes praising soft synths, not some editorialised comment thats gone through a publicist. so does my evidence mean more?

I though that still in most live situations artist depend more on hardware than computers. I never said that it is not a serious music production tool. I am sure one day will wake up and artist will use more soft than hard in live concerts still I do not see soft completly replacing hard anytime this century. As a matter of fact I see soft becoming more hardware like and hardware more software like. In the end we will have the perfect soft-hard hybrid. And thus the WAR will end and Frodo can go home along with the fellowship of the ring and you will be able to excuse VANGELIS for being so stupid and "decent"vurt wrote:kilon wrote: The reason why even today with QUAD CORE power computer are not used that often in live situations, is that still the pc has not managed to become a real instrument.

im not talking about replacement, im talking about new options alongside the old.
i like and use hardware myself(real analogue stuff too, not that software in a special box type hardware) but i do not view it as better, i do not view software as the better option either(and from what ive seen no one has said that at all)
it is similar to when synths first came out and so called real musos said "that sounds crap, real intruments are better and that will never last" well even you must be able to see how wrong the luddites where. choosing your own personal preference is fine and as i said earlier in the thread im glad it works for you, but that does not make it the better choice for anyone else. can you see that at all or are we now going to be given a rundown of why the motif is so great?
