Hi All,

Anyone have any experience with this brand? I made an offer (not surprisingly, it was refused :hihi: and I can't make another offer) for this electro-acoustic

Image

from http://www.dangleberrymusic.co.uk/ (their ebay shopfront)

I  the look of this guitar, and even at full price, £199.99 it won't break the bank. I know I like taking a chance on 'budget' guitars, ie buying without playing, but this is in that price range where I think twice about doing that.

Any first hand info/reports on these guitars, good/bad?

'EDIT'

Too late now, I've mised the deadline :(

Well, after missing out on the above guitar, I couldn't resist buying this one instead

£219.99 (list price £394.99) it looks fantastic. I just hope it sounds/plays as good as it looks, tho' with a Fishman Classic 4 installed, it should sound ok.

Sweet. Keep us posted.

How are your J&D guitar/gfs pups treating you?

Will do, it should be here in a few days :hyper:

The pups are fine, but I'm having problems with the 5 way selector atm, sometimes it takes a bit of 'jiggling' about to work :x I'm a bit miffed as I made a point of buying so called 'better quality' replacement pots and selector. Other than this, the J&D is excellent, tho' I'm tempted to splash out on another guitar.

I've got an endowment policy due to mature in 3 weeks time and I really like the look of the limited edition (Tree of Life) Les Paul clones from Richwood. They look absolutely stunning imo, but at around £500, they're expensive to buy without playing. There's only 24 made in each colour, inc a certificate of authenticity and hard case, they could well become sought after collectors items in the future http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... ory=101562

That is a nice looking guitar indeed, could be bit of a speculative investment though.

Having said that if it plays like a top of the line guitar then it's cheap :D

I have put any further guitar purchases on hold at the moment, despite the fact that I really want a tele style guitar. And yes I was tempted by the ones from that dangleberry link!

I have been sniffing around the ceriatone diy amps http://www.ceriatone.com/ though. They are supposed to be good quality, and the exchange rate is so good at the moment....

It wouldn't be bought soley as a possible investment, tho' that would be a nice bonus, and the only speculation would be if they are as good as they'e claimed to be. I might take the chance as I've received the (approx) final payout amount for my policy in the post today. Pleasantly surprised :D

Go on, you know you want to :hihi:

They appear top notch, at least the reviews at Harmony Central are positive.

Hi Tommy,

Thanks.

No, I hadn't seen those reviews. They seem pretty positive about the 'standard' Richwood Les Pauls, so hopefully the limited editions I'm interested in will be that bit better still.

There are some really nice guitars coming out of Korea nowadays. I recently bought this Gibson 335 knockoff at 1/5 the price of a Gibson and it's nicer than my old 335; impeccable finish and a nice, fat sound.

It would have been sweet, but they've just emailed me to let me know the guitar I ordered is out of stock (their fault) :x I can either have a full refund, or choose another guitar, so I've gone for the latter. It's a little dearer than the one I ordered, but I'm hoping they'll ignore that as compensation for messing me about.

Hi Ian,

there are some matching (very positive) reviews on Harmony-Central. Seems, though, that Richwood in fact stopped the production of Les Pauls. Not many offers left.

Hi Tommy,

The limited edition Richwood Les Pauls I'm interested in have been made exclusively for Dangleberry (if the blurb is to be believed) There's only 24 made in each colour, tho' I'm not sure how many colours there are. I mailed them earlier tonight asking about stock/availability, tho' it was a bit late to get a reply today.

I can't say I've been overly impressed by Dangleberry so far :x

They took my money for a 'out of stock item'....fair enough, these things happen, but then they email me telling me I can select another guitar as a replacement. I did, but I've heard nothing back from them since, other than a mind bogglingly stupid reply to my also asking how the stock situation was with the limited edition Richwood Les Pauls. I wanted to know how many they had left, but they only told me the colours they had in stock :x :x

I've just fired off yet another email, saying if they can't at least update me on my order, then I'll cancel it and take the full refund they also offered. I'm not hopeful of a reply as they haven't answered yesterdays enquiry yet.

If this is typical of how they do business, quite how they've got a 100% ebay rating I don't know.

i guess it's different markets but looking around the rondo site i get the impression you can get budget guitars with a lot more character in the US then over here. Loads of cool fat strats, strats with p90s etc. And, look, an ash tele with body shaping for ~£60!

nice.
