Directwave: Weird MIDI behaviour

I've just set up my first fairly routine 808 sample set/program in Directwave... 18 keys, 18 samples.

The problem is in Cubase Studio 4that D'wave will play samples from a recorded MIDI file, but not always from my MIDI keyboard. Punch the keys a couple times and it's back to normal playing.

It's like it's functioning in some weird kind of demo mode.

This is not a keyboard (Roland A-50) problem because my other VSTis all behave nicely in that key range.

I also get weird program changes...solved that by filtering program changes in Cubase.

And here's a BIG vote for a Directwave full-screen mode.
