USB Audio Interface suggestions?

Firewire 1394 cards are cheap. from $10 to $50. I would get an adaptec or some other reliable brand. But saying that i have some cheap $9 cards that have been great.

Staples even sells firewire cards. This would allow you to use firewire drives & capture DV video if you have a DV cam as well.

Firewire cards are *really* cheap indeed. But well, I'd still go for a PCI solution in case mobility isn't an issue for a while to come. Basically, you get a slightly better bang for the buck (even if the TC Konnekt is quite nice) and lower overall latencies.

Sascha Frank..I have been researching this all day and I have to agree with you, for optimum performance a PCI Card is my best option.
I've decided to go with the EMU 1616M PCI audio interface.
I'm not buying it here but here are the specs.

I also like the idea I can buy a card in the future to use it on a laptop should I ever need to.
This should compliment my Cubase 4 crossgrade quite well and keep me busy learning all this stuff for some time to come.
Anyone need a terratec EWX24/96 soundcard? lol

Just ordered the EMU from JRR shop.
vierus..thank you for your help. I really liked the TC Konnekt 24D but I liked the idea of going direct into the board instead of using firewall.
At least I know I can add a firewall slot in the future should my needs require it. I hope they will fit a PCI 2.1 card slot cause that's what I have in my Dell.

No prob. I run 2 PCI based systems aswell in towers. Ive just been so impressed the TC i use with my laptop (my main rig) i had to mention it.
Never used an EMU but that should work great..

M-audio stuff is always a good buy for the $. But the quality is a bit iffy.

You can get a Tascam US-122 for way cheap on eBay these days. And they are good little interfaces too.

Oddly enough, the $30 Behringer UCA202 is pretty good. I don't mean "very good", and I do realize it is Behringer (expected to last about a year), but it *Works*, it's *cheap*, and it's tiny enough to carry in your backpack *all the time* just in case you need it.
