OK so I will be needing a cheapie mic (100 top, would love if I could get a n00b-decent one for 65 or something).
I don't plan on recording instruments... maybe flute, acoustic guitar and harmonica but that's going to be very rare.
Mostly I plan on using it for recording vocals. On a clean environment, not really for traveling or recording "live" or something.
Just in the comfort of my home.
As you can see in the title I am going to run this baby through my Toneport UX1 interface, so no phantom powered mics (condensers they call it?), just dynamic mics (I think that's the term right? Its just I also hear cardioid and other stuff).
I was heading for the Shure SM57 which seems to be one of the most recommended mics under 100 bucks, but unfortunately someone on other forum said this one sucked for vocals, but was great for instruments. The SM58 (100 bucks! dang like 30 more then the 57) is apparently great for vocals and okish for instruments
I would like a nice convo of good for instruments and good for vocals, but since I'm seeing -not surprisingly as usual- I'm gonna have to let one of them go, instruments it's gonna be.
So is there anything perhaps cheaper than the SM58, that works fine for vocals?
Thanks for your time
