Okay, well I have sampled a rare 70s synth because I believe it to be dying. This process took me 4ever but I am now finished. I thought it would be nice to offer it as a sample CD to the world for a cheap price (considering I'm not a professional sampler). But I have some questions:
1. How should I distribute? Do I just burn CDs and post them or should I have some webspace for download?
2. How should I advertise? Just post on forums? Make a website?
3. How do I protect or copyright my samples? Do I even bother?
4. Please give any other advice as well as I am all ears.
Thanks for any pointers, appreciate it!
Business advice needed.

Oh yeah I forgot the most obvious question:
5. I've sampled in WAV format, but should I offer like REX, AKAI ect or are people happy to do this themselves?

My answers (YMMV):
(1) This depends on how many MB the sample size is, how much you want to deal with trips to the mailbox, paypal, etc.
(2) Posting here is a good start. Is the idea to make the samples available without "out of pocket expense" (and some compensation for your time), or to make a couple of bucks in the process?
(3) Depends on your motivations.
(4) You could maybe partner with someone - say HollowSun, Nucleus Soundlabs or DBU - to handle distribution, rather than handling it yourself.
(5) I may be wrong here, I tend to think of REX format as mostly appropriate for loops, not multi-samples. WAV is pretty universal, with a good set of looped wav files and decent naming convention and/or the root note set, it would not be difficult for someone to build presets for DimPro, Kontakt, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I'm not trying to start a business, so mostly its compensation for my time.
