massive email campaign to wake the buzz? :D

It affects the sound, so it does matter?
Yes, since it's a compressorn, and not an EQ, the way it affects your input will depends on.. your input. Make a test with different noise, noise at different levels, the result will be different.
Yes, but since its a multiband and has different boosts and cuts, I wanted to find out the frequencies/areas. Got my point?
Basic EQ tip: highpass all that don't hit subs, usually all but bass and kick

Yes, we should buzz the Buzz. :D

Actually, that was very interesting. :D Do you like that BuzComp compressor? It makes me sad that he's stopped developing... :(

Yes, I did buy the multiband compressor from him for some ridiculously low sum a couple of years ago. Mainly because I tried the demo on a project and it ended up saving the whole mix! However, I do hear some problems with the cross over filters. Especially the 48dB one (and the other insanely steep one) seems to create some problems. It's a very nice multiband compressor but it could be so much better still if he focused some more on the quality of the cross overs.

I've tried to email him many times over the years and have never gotten an answer. I hope he is okay as he seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth! I've even googled his name and tried to find a phone number so that I could call him but alas, I gave up after a while.

Cheers!

Damn! As I suspected. (last beta: Dec 22, 2005) :-o

I didn't realize you could even buy the CP5...oh wait: there are two CP5's! Did you buy the beta or the whole BuzComp Bundle?

Post

I got the whole BuzComp bundle. I quite like the single band BuzComp CL1 or whatever it is called. It's wicked as an expander as well. It's the perfect opposite to "round"/"tame" compression/expansion. It's hard and edgy in a nice way. :)

BTW, what are the differences between the ABCD?
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 00#2613400
I tried it last night, and I noticed between B, C and D are (subtle) stereo width differences.

I thought that C sounded most neutral, where B seemed to widen up and D seemed to narrow the stereo width IIRC.

Did anyone else notice this too?

Oh, and setting A has some loudness effect, like listening to a radio station, but I guess that setting is very obvious to notice by ear :D

Hi,

I didn't see this before so thanks for posting. However, I think the "youwashock" plugin is more of a brick-wall limiter/maximizer than a "normal" compressor. I rather keep them out of this thread as it would mean I need to add Voxengo Elephant, iZotope Ozone, Waves L1, L2, L3 etc.. which is not really the idea of this test.

And it's still valid. Youwashock IS mainly useful for brickwall limiting. It doesn't have ANY controls whatsoever for threshold/ratio nor attack or release so it's kind of useless. The big knob in Youwashock is a wet/dry mix knob as explained before.

However, with the full version it'll be another story as I'm pretty sure one can disable the limiter and run it in single band mode as well which makes it a "normal" compressor. :D

hm... this reminds me of that other one-knob exciter (forgot it's name - somebody can help me here?), where you turned left and it added "less punch" and right for "more colour" or something like that.

Gotta check this one out, too. And yup, I really like some punch for my trucks! ;)
