I'm not great at constructing great drum loops by playing them myself (I'm not a drummer). Yet I have some great acoustic drum kits (like BFD and Sonic Reality Capsules). Do any pro drummers put out MIDI files to drive these great kits rather than just trying to find Rex Loops and fills?
Thanks
John

Well, there are drum MIDI files available for purchase at sites like Groove Monkey and others.
If you want drum MIDI's played by famous drummers, then DrumCore is what you want. It has kits, MIDI, audio files, and more, but all played by some of the best drummers around. Most of what it has can be exported as MIDI, and you can drag it into your host from the interface.
It's a rewire application though, not a VSTi or anything. But it works very well regardless.
But if you just want MIDI files, then Groove Monkey would be your best bet. Not played by all the pros, but still decent MIDI files.
Look into Jamstix2 that comes out in one week as well. It has drummer styles based on tons of famous drummers. It's dynamic, follows your song and can either export MIDI, send MIDI out to your plugin, or even host your plugin inside of it. So you can use whatever drum samples you want. Plus, it's non-static, in that there is more of a human feel than ANY other drum software out there. Check out the details:

That would be my recommendation. And if you buy JS1 right now, I think you get a free upgrade. JS1 is one of the best purchases I've ever made, bar none.
