Ànyone know a good guitar pedal to use to distort synths-

I have found when using on board dist effects on my Yamaha Cs1x that i can get nice distortions- but they are only good for solos when i play more than one note it gets mushy-
(like a soft red apple i like grany smiths)

I just what to distort a square wave- i want it to sound very distorted but be usable on chords-

e.g some guitarist say a pedal is good for solos but not chords-

:hihi:

EDIT: sorry, I see your looking for hardware  thought you wanted a plugin. I've heard that the Rockman Sustainer half rack units work great for synth.

I am also interested in a "light" overdrive pedal, something that can be not as brutal as "metal" distortion guitar pedal, as the sound is not subtle enough on synth or beats.
Since some days, i am looking for a Behringer VT-911.
It is a tube overdrive pedal.
Maybe that overdrive would be better for fattening than brutal distortion ?
But as that pedal is out recently, i haven't yet found anytwhere to try it.

The trouble with distorting synths is that while one note sounds great a fist full of em sounds horrid

My solution in my synths is to drive at the note pre-filter so the overdrive is specific to each note. Slightly more CPU but much nicer sounding in my ears.

Not sure how you would do that in the real world other than breaking your chords up into mono lines but maybe that will help.

:)

'Light' overdrive pedal? Try the Digitech Bad Monkey. I used one recently to fatten up a bass line from my Nova IIX, run through the FX send/return on my mixer, it worked a treat.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.
