Thank you; I was looking for this kind of subjective evaluation. I think your machine is pretty fast. I assume you're running 32-bit linux on your AMD64.Lump wrote:There is no big difference. I need a faster computer*better* audio latency;
You get crackles on Windows as well?
I'm kind of surprised you clobber your system with just that -- is Guitar Rig the main culprit?
I've got to try this. Need time, need time.

your welcome!!! i was absolutely floored by it as well
im in the midst of a doing a "wineasio" "community" thread, to talk about all wineasio-usable hosts, and compatible vsts etc. but right now, xt2, followed by REAPER and catabile, take the cake.

Yep thanks, got it up and running too.
But, I seem to be getting bad latency on using a midi keyboard, the playback is fine though.
Anyone else experience this?
PS I don't think it matters much if you have more than 2gb ram as wine is a 32 bit emulation (or not) and suffers from the same ram limitations as 32bit windows. It don't matter how much you throw at it, it just wont use it.

You cant beat people up then have them say "I love you"

I'm re-installing Ubuntu tonight (now that I've moved EWQLSO Gold library to an external drive).
Anyone know if the Pitch-Wheel problem in WineASIO has been fixed? (i.e., it was giving some quite remarkably crazy values)

I do not know if it has been mentioned here but there's a libaam.so modified file here to enable EXT2 for Linux to connect via Jack...
However, the win32 vst's do not work with the Linux version obviously.

Is there a thread somewhere where people say which synths have worked under wine? I'm especially curious about SURGE, sq8l, reaktor (which I have heard works), and xhip. Anyways, I'm about to test it out.

well...not persay. I'll give you my take on it--with wineasio, and the proper .dlls, much more work than not. zebra, lounge lizard 3, morphine, battery 3, fm8 , rm IV, addictive drums and kontakt2 all working here fine plus more over here...dsp stuff works, wusikstation....just give it a try
edit: post here if you cant get one to work, if it has a demo, or if i have it, perhaps i can help you figure out if you can get it workin or not

err:ole:COMPOBJ_DllList_Add couldn't load in-process dll L"wineasio.dll"
note: this is with energyXT1.4.1, not xt2.
hmmmmm..... what could this mean? I'm still getting familiar with wine. Does wineasio REQUIRE a RT kernel configuration? I don't feel like setting that up right now (partly because I don't want to deal with portage overlays, and I have little need for better latency).
can I dispose of wineasio after I regsvr32 it? Also I'm not using the latest version of wine(again portage laziness, only 0.9.39).
I also do not want to deal with jack, is there a dependency here???
Surge works but it crashes with pixmap errors when browsing presets. I'll keep working on it.
ps fax | grep wine or asio does not do anything, so Im not sure what the in process error is all about....

sq8l, xhip and reaktor works for me.
edit:
but, without the problems, only with the latest wine!
(before, i did have graphics/menus problems with some vst's)
also, rt kernel does makes huge difference on my machine.
edit:
also try to follow AllenPOPO's tutorial "step by step", and everything
should work fine.
