Need help with another Sonik Synth 2 preset

H SFX - C Misc SFX - 010 Gone

Playing some notes, like E2, reveals tiny artifacts in the high end, and this unwanted noise becomes very pronounced with effects added. I've tried to EQ it away, but it requires complete removal of frequencies above 9-10k, which kind of kills it. I'm hoping there's a way to adjust the synth engine or other. I'm using it in SampleTank2, by the way.

Try taking the reverb off. That might help.

Try taking the reverb off. That might help.

If you click the myspace link in my signature below, this very sound should play. If you notice the glitches I'm talking about and know of a way to get rid of them, please let me know.

By the way, the song loads terribly on my connection, making for stuttering playback. If you have any kind of advice regarding the ideal way to make mp3s play back smoothly on myspace, please let me know as well.

It does stutter so it is hard to tell. You can try using the low pass filter on it though if you want to get rid of all frequencies above 10k.

I think that's part of the sound. But, if you don't like that then filter it with the cutoff is my suggestion.

To me it sounds like either bad sampling or some error in the way the engine handles the sampled material. No offense meant; I'm overall very happy with Sonik Synth.

I've tried tediously to filter it out, but as I said before, it kills the sound. So I was hoping there was a way of adjusting the engine parameters to remove it (I know SampleTank has several different algorithms?).

I don't think so. By the way, it's not bad sampling. In fact, that's too general a term. If one means that it is distorted because levels were too hot then that's not the problem. If one means that there are artifacts from sampling at too low of a sample rate that isn't the problem either. It's just a part of this particular sound. Maybe it was that way at the source to begin with. Either way, surgical EQing if you can't just filter it otherwise I guess that sound isn't for you.

Sound playback quality can be adjusted in the preferences to have it be set to performance mode or not. That could help possibly but I don't think that's the issue. Worth a try. Good luck.
