First Thoughts:

Fewer pops and clicks when changing presets. Sometimes they sounded like unplugging a 1/4" plug from a 100 watt Marshall guitar amp! <ouch> :(

The Crazy Comb effect is a nice addition that easily multiplies what existing patches can do. And the resulting sounds are useful-not just weird for the sake of being weird.

The new Ambient Pad bank is Supa Dupa Extra Wow! :D
Every pad conjured up 20 or more possible uses. I put on headphones just to get into the sounds more.

Rich, thick, evocative pads. Very cinematic. BTW- Rhino plays well with Albino. Great combination!

I was using Chainer and tried multiple Rhinos at once. Many of the Ambient bank patches fit well with several other patches. Too many to list, but using Rhino in this way opens up all sorts of new sounds.

<Sigh!> So much Rhino, so little time! :)
(Good thing it's a 3 day weekend here!)

All this and I haven't even read the new 1.08 manual yet!

Wow I'v only had Rhino for less than a week and already an update. The new patch bank is awesome! I think Rhino is the best value (and perhaps the most overlooked/underated) synth on the market.Everyone should own this monster! Thank you Big Tick!!! :D

GREAT JOB TICK ! ! ! !

I've been waiting for the Ambient Pads . . . . . . . . WOW !

Just messing around with it and came up with some incredible stuff already.

Rhino is just plain scary :) . . . I have the new Absynth as well and as usual I find myself using Rhino patches in place of the Absynth ones I had in tunes.
The new Absynth is Fantastic but it seems Rhino comes out with more usable patches . . . . . at least for what I'm doing.

The best part is it's so easy to tweek it out to what I want or need !

Thanks so much for the upgrade and new filters as well . . . .Now I'll be messin around with that all day . . .THANKS :( - I'm suppose to be doing laundry ).

Take Care,

Another superb update, 'Tick... thanks so much! Great additions and excellent presets again from Daniel, X_Bruce and your good self. Not just showcasing stuff either, some genuinely usable ones, which is really great. Can't say enough good things about Rhino :D

Multiple instances?? what do you have, a 15ghz pc?
Athlon 1600 (1.4Ghz). 1 GB ddr 2100 ram, dma 133 hd. 63% CPU usage playing 6 note chord. You have to remember that with Pads, fewer notes result in clearer chords. So most playing with this bank was with 3-4 note chords. So I really do not see what's so unusual about that. What are you running? A PII 350 Mhz? :D :D :D :D
did you ever do that ambience reverb test for me after i clarified what exactly i was asking???
Dunno-did I answer the thread? Find the thread and you have your answer, I really don't remember as I scan 8 or 9 forums a day, probably thousands of messages. If it's a message that I want to refer to again, I book mark it.
Lastly, can anyone confirm in any host if the arrow keys work for flicking through presets now??
They worked in Rhino 1.07. Still do! :)

Actually, regarding these arrow keys and preset change stuff, I believe it's really a host issue - some hosts don't send keystrokes to plugins, so I'm afraid you'll have to bug the host developers to get it fixed.

Yeah I agree - but probably these plugs use some clever workarounds, where I would prefer the host do what he is supposed to do (these keystrokes stuff are part of the vst specs, after all).
If you use a workaround it's at the risk at being incompatible with these hosts that comply with the vst specs: for instance if a host has a global, "disable keystrokes" on/off button, you need some kind of cooperation with the host for handling keystrokes.

This said, maybe I missed something, so I'll be pleased to check plugins that do it correctly.

I just tested the demo - fantastic sounds, I´m really extremely impressed. But the CPU usage is very high when playing chords. I don´t know if my PIII 866 MHz with 384 MB RAM is fast enough for that monster instrument - what are the minimum requirements ?
