Hmm wondering if he'd be fooled by a Epiphone Emperor-II (Joe Pass model)..

Yeah, it's the Ibanez George Benson model. It's a signature model they made for him many years ago.

he he lagrange, i guess you just saw the price of the gb10 right :D :hihi:
ibanez makes much cheaper models that look like the george benson one, take a look at their site,
i think this line is the artcore line, very nice models there...

Yes Ibanez, not Gibson. The guitar's logo shows it too.

EDIT:
I gave it a try: not bad, but it was overpriced (to me).
I ended up with (2nd hand) Yamaha AEX 1500 Martin Taylor Signature... then sold it and bought (2nd h. again) a very cheaper AEX model, not a "Deluxe signature" one... you know what? It sounds better!

Often the 'feel' is just the 'cool factor': logo, signature etc.. they use their standard components as for other models. Just cosmetic.

A friend of mine is a big George Benson fan, and he picked up one of those Ibanez Artcore guitars a year or two ago. I can't recall exactly which model, but he was very impressed with it, given the low price.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

yeah, I bought a semi-hollow artcore last year and its pretty terrific. New pickups help too.

Hi lagrange,
I'm a fairly good guitar player, personally I would never ever spend this kind of money on a guitar unless I was stinking rich. Surely, most people wouldn't be able to tell
the difference from a nice ibanez artcore guitar...a very small minority will appreciate the subtleties in tone, to me it's just not worth the price difference...1099 on ebay may be worth it, when you're looking at the initial cost and compare against the epiphone you showed there, the difference is more acceptable...
if you've got a couple of hundred to burn, it may be worth picking up the ebay...
if you're on budget, buy an artcore or something similar.

best
