:o - and it's only a variation on White Tie's new Troublemaker theme... pretty nice eh?

Post

The skins don't change themselves randomly on REAPER...you pick the one you like, then you can keep that one - for consistency. I actually value freedom of choice over consistency.

Help me, Help me!! I'm so confused.....my DAW's color theme has been altered slightly!?!?! :hihi:

"Logic and Garageband have nicer looking and importatantly-consistent interfaces than Reaper , in my opinion."

ill even credit you with assuming your opinion is better than your spelling and your grammar.

its fortunate if you like those guis, cause you arent allowed to do much to change them. that seems like a limitation.

Post

There was nothing wrong with his opinion. He thinks that they have more consistent interfaces.

And he's not talking about them changing all the time. He's talking about various interface elements. A button in one place looks like a button in another. Well, and much more than that. But he's not saying that Reaper changes all the time.

His opinion may not be more important, but it surely isn't less important either.

And English may or may not be his first language. Isn't it a little closed minded to think that others should automatically be as eloquent as you in a language?

Not trying to cause problems, just wondering why his opinion is discounted so easily, especially when people aren't even quoting his opinion correctly.

and again clarifying that with those hosts its like it or lump it, and for what reason?

Yet many people seem to do just fine with them.

I'm all for skinning a host, and it's a great thing to be able to do. But the guy stated that he liked another interface better, and he got jumped on a bit. And for what reason?

the reason is obvious if you reflect on it for more than 2 seconds. Oh and btw who made you a mind reader to know exactly what he meant when all we have to go on is what he wrote?

Post

Sheesh. It was obvious what he meant. You don't have to be a freakin' mindreader. And the benefit of skinnability doesn't detract from the possibility that someone might like the default GUI of an app. Show some logic, people. The non-inclusion of skinnability isn't a... er... negative feature... if there's even such a thing. The inclusion of the function in Reaper is a plus, but that's a different statement to make.

Ok, Einstein. Go ahead and "enlighten" me as to exactly why he deserved being jumped on or criticized for his use of language?

And you have just proven my point. Who are YOU to say that he meant what you are saying he meant? I mean, we just have what he wrote, right? And it seems to me the MORE LOGICAL way of interpreting it is what I said. But I'm just dying to hear how somebody actually thought that he was complaining about the host changing colors and themes on him.

I'll take a seat so you can entertain me ya'll. Sorry to be brash, but it's just annoying.

Hehe,

even the ProTools GUI is loved by some people. :hihi:

I LOVE the skinnability of Reaper and things are developing in a nice way in that area. Even I opened a graphics prog because of that lately.
I personally don't care that much anymore if people agree on my choices of software.
If someone thinks that Reapers GUI is inconsistent then so what? Then he/she should be happy and use somthing else. I don't care and will use Reaper anyway. My way of working is accelerated much more in Reaper than in Nuendo which I nearly don't use anymore. And there are some skins for Reaper that I already (though not perfect to me) like more than Nuendos looks. :D

It seems to me he was saying that it is somehow better to not be able to change the skins - like it would throw you for a big loop to change the colors or something. I know he didn't think the themes changed randomly - but how else would it ever be confusing or detrimental at all...so I found that humorous...heh. Not everything is a fight or flight situation, koolkeys.

No, I was more addressing Tony and his post, but in doing so I also addressed how more than one person poked fun at what was just his opinion as if it wasn't valid in some way.
