I updtaed the file to v.2.0

I didn't updtaed the page on my website, because I'd like to have some feedback before, just to be sure everything is ok.

The delay time knob has been enhanced: you can hold shift while draging it to have a finer tuning.
You can also edit the bpm or ms values by clicking on them.
The host sync works fine, and is directly linked to the knob and bpm/ms values. they all control the same thing, so it's much better than it used to be.

There's also support for v-amp pro and v-ampire now (mostly GUI specificities, as the features are almost the same : v-am pro and v-ampire have different modes than v-amp2, and v-am pro has a digital out.)

Have fun, and please report me if any bug occurs.

Cool, I've missed this before. I have a v-amp2 so this will come in handy. I must admit I haven't opened any manual yet, but setting some of the effect parameters on the device can be a bit hard so hopefully this will make it easier.

For those who missed it, in fact, this let you access every parameter, unlike the hardware.
As you can see, stomp boxes have lots of parameters, and you cannot access most of them through hardware knobs. You could do it with the V-amp editor, but v-amp editor requires full midi routing (in and out), is ugly, and obviously isn't vst.

This one is vst, so it is fully automated, the delay time can be synced to host tempo in realtime, and the GUI does reflect the routing inside the V-amp. This let you make any combination freely, with no limits.

Damn, this could actually get me to drag my v-amp2 out of the closet, even though I use a line6 podxt live now :/

I don't use the V-Amp anymore, but I just have to say it: My hats off to you, Mokafix! A stunning piece of work!

Thanks!

I hope it can help some people to integrate their v-amp in their studio in a more convenient way.
Please report me if you find anything going wrong.

BTW, I added a "lock/unlock" button between amps and cabs lists : my eprom is 2.1.1, I think, and it doesn't support amp change without cab change. But it seems this issue has been corrected lately, so some people have an eprom that let them unlock those.
Why should you lock it if you have an old eprom? Simply to be sure that the GUI will really match you what's happenning inside your hardware. With my eprom, when using V-amp editor, it makes me believe I can change the amp without changing the cab, but if I change the cab, and then come back to where it was, I notice that it doesn't sound the same as it did just after changing the amp.

I might add a "input level" parameter later.

(I had to split the file, cause my FTP won't upload a big one :( )

Would this work with my Bass V-Amp Pro?
OR are you intending to make a version that will?
I used to use a reaktor ensemble to do this with cubase sx3 but since version 4 midi output from plugins has been broken and my ensemble wont work.

I can't get it to load in Cubase SX3 - in the plug-in information box it's brown (unloadable) - it recognizes that it's there but can't load it. The V-Amp is working with the Design 2 software so the connections are ok - any suggestions?

It is not intended to fit the bass v-amp. Bass V-amp uses different amps and more importantly different FX + a loop recorder.
It would need a dedicated plugin.
I though about it, but won't do it right now.
maybe later. It's not too difficult (mostly an automated GUI, so 80% of the work is graphism), but I'm a bit busy now ;-)

Frantiac, I don't know why that problem occurs. It should not. If anyone else has the same problem, tell it; if you don't, tell it too ;-)

Personally, I have no probs here with synthedit and reaper.

BTW, I uploaded the file again, because it wasn't the latest version. Silly me :dog:
The latest one has a small lock unlock icon near amps and cab choice.

Is anyone using it successfully with Cubase SX3?

Post

Hi Mokafix,

I've formatted my hard drive, re-installed XP Pro, installed Cubase SX3 and copied the .dll to my plugins directory but the problem is still there - it is listed as "unloadable" in the plug-in information box. Do you know if anyone has managed to get it working with Cubase SX3?

Thanks

Ok, I might have a clue.

I just added a fake audio ouput.
My plugin is supposed to be loaded as a synth, but has no audio output. this could be a cause of trouble if the host is a bit square minded, it could find this odd.
SO now, the plug should look like a straight synth to the host.

Tell me if it does the trick. ;-)

Post

Many thanks for this man, really a great idea to have the control inside the host like a vsti.

I own and owned a lot of amp sims and effect units hard and soft (actually vg88, pod, gearbox, dp4, guitar rig2, etc) and I love very much the Vamp2, VERY MUCH!, its so dinamic, natural and responsive that I cant believe its from Behringer, and much less that it cost only 100€.

Post

Yes, that's solved the problem of it loading - it now appears in the plug-in list as a synth just as you intended.

I'm sure it's me but I can't get the plugin to communicate with the V-Amp. As I said in an earlier e-mail the V-Amp works fine with the standalone Design 2 software and I've selected the same midi in/out ports in Cubase. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction as I'm really not getting anywhere - do I have to open a track for the plugin or do I use it from the vst instruments drop-down list? Help!
