Hello and help! :help: :help: :help:
I'm looking for the score of The Sound of Silence (simon and garfunkel, of course) and I can't seem to find it anywhere. What I need is the notes of the melody and below that the "name" of the chords (please forgive my explanation, I'm one of those people who know nothing of music theory...) marked as A, F, G, that kind of thing. Free, to boot.
Can any of you help me, please? I'd really appreciate it :)
Thanks in advance.

You can see the first page here, and buy the rest from Sheet Music Direct for only £2.25 (or equivalent in whatever currency you use).

Failing that, you could try getting a midi file then opening it with a notation programme. For example, here. This won't have the chord symbols though and won't look as good.
Unfamiliar words can be looked up in my Glossary of musical terms.

I used to think the internet was going to unite mankind. Now I realize the internet is perhaps mankinds greatest wasteland of bickering, greed, and narrow minds. " And we all shine on, " Imagine that.

Thank you both :) Unfortunately I need the complete thing with notes (melody) and chord symbols underneath... the problem is, we live like two hours from any music store, and I'm not sure my Pard (the thing here is not for me, it's for my partner in BIOnighT) is willing to buy thru the net (old fashioned guy, you know...) :( That's why I was hoping to find it for free somewhere, but I've been searching for days and no result so far :(

You're unlikely to find it for free, not in a good format with chords and stuff. The thing is copyright, and the people involved have got to earn a living you know.

Could you work out the rest from the first page I posted? Or, could you get a midi file of the song and work out the chords from that?

Copyright, yeah, you're right, I guess... It just sounds funny as there's no difference, in my opinion, from a transcript of a song's lyrics... I mean, anybody who knows how to write music can do it, just like anybody who can write can transcribe lyrics, dont' you think so? But yes, copyright is on everything these days, so I should've figured that out by myself, I suppose :(

At this point I think the easiest thing to do is tell my Pard to go to a store and buy it or have somebody buy it for him...

Thanks a lot for your help, anyway, I appreciate it :)

Thanks for reminding me of this amazing tune. Just put on the Best of... and was amazed how awful the backing track is. When the drums start up they very nearly kill the song. Very strange. Good luck for finding the sheet music!

OK, he called me a few hours ago and apparently he's found what he was looking for :)

I'm not sure about the drums... I kinda like it, while what makes the whole thing a much less enjoyable experience for me is the electric guitar all saturated and that tries to do some rockish/Hendixish things that have nothing to do with the spirit of the track  Strange, as you said.
Still, I guess we all agree on the fact that it is a great tune :)
My favorite, though, is probably "The Boxer" - only one they used electronic instruments in, right?

Yes, I'm with you there.
