Unfortunately, I don't have an upload of the song it's from, but the synth in question is from,

"Agent Orange" by Pharoahe Monch

I'm new to sound design and have been sort of building sounds based on synths I've heard, so any help on how that synth is made is much appreciated!

I don't really know, it sounds like a pulse waveform lowpass filtered with some lo-fi effects. It may not be directly synthesized and sampled from vinyl. I'm not sure. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable on synthesis can help ?

that's an analog synth like a moog or omega as most r/b producers use. The quick sound of the filter tells you immediately that's analog. Plus Monch's shit is mixed prolly on an SSL or NEVE and mastered with dope analog/digital gear in a traditional hiphop/r/b studio, so what you hear is the product of all that.

Hmm,I cannot help feeling that there's some FM synthesis at play here sounding like FM synthesis being modulated by Velocity or keytrack, perhaps along with PWM. It's got that gritty almost sickly type of digital sound with some analogue like fuzzness over it which is easily replicated with the synths noise generator.

Nah, thats Mr.Porter i believe. He did most of Pharoah's new shit for his album.
Mr.Porter programs synths a bit to, and he has access to all the top shit so like FA said it is probably alot of different factors.
