ive been having a lot of trouble with my fast track pro under win xp. And have now decided to use a pci card. Maybe a audiophile 24/96 or a emu 0404 i know these will work under xp. But will pci cards ever get updated drivers for vista as i hopfully would like to switch to vista sometime in the future

That's totally up to the soundcard's manufacturer, not MicroSoft... Some have Vista drivers ready for their whole old product line, some only will come with Vista drivers for their future catalogue (like M-Audio)

It takes at least 12-18months for software and drivers to catch up to a new OS.
Vista still hasn't even gotten a first Service Pack out yet.
Until then its a BETA product and shouldnt be used for production or critical tasks.
(Unless you want to be an unpaid bug-tester...)
