ya know, that's probably just a little too f**king harsh there debbie joe...i mean, i still got my Kraut Rock...nah, that kinda sucks too...i actually heard some hip hop the other day that was pretty f**king rad (i think it was mad lib? there was some other crap, who knows) but i can't beleive y'all are arguing about a genre that wants to be cool and is so horribly f**king lame...i mean, the carpenters wanted to be smooth as a babies ass and achieved it, and that's why it rules...that "lite hip hop" stuff just makes me want to watch television, i'll have less brain cells lost....debra1rlo wrote:there is no thread because there is no music that doesn't suck

you shouldn't hesitate. worst thing that could happen is meffs splits it off into another topic and moves it to Off Topic.dusted william wrote:I hesitated to reply in this, but this thread is so far long gone.
I ain't scared of no skunk anthropomorph.
I have not... but the logo looks familiar. I'll have another look next time I'm out at the store. I'm not a big fan of IPAs, but if I can find it here, I'm bound by duty and honor to drink it.You gotta try any, and I mean ANY Dog Fish Head beers. I've only had the chance to try the 60 minute IPA and the Raison D'Être. Both of them were awesome. It's brewed in Delaware I believe.
I'm almost as far away as I could be in the state. I'm in the Tri Cities -- that fantastic desolate wasteland of radioactive desert in south-central Washington. So where abouts in Washington do you live? I live near Bellingham.

nobody cares about trip hop at all except a few old people in the UK, and absolutley no one in the US of A...i saw Portishead on the "telly", and i thought they were pretty f**king cool, but in the end just some kind of novelty...the reason a good band can stay together is because the people who make it up are crucial, and the pile of stuff it takes to make "trip hop" or (shudder) "acid jazz" (without a doubt, the worst batch of so-called "music" hatched upon an unsuspecting group of drunken surban girls) are expendable... i mean, i'm quite sure one could call the musicians union on a sunday night and get a competent bass player and/or "breaks" dj....

I don't know that I care about specific genres as a whole whether it be trip hop, alternative rock or polka. I just like what I like, genre be damned. I've heard Portishead repeatedly referred to as trip hop but I would like them if they were called ambient polka, I just think they're cool and didn't waste one second thinking about what specific genre they were when I plunked down my 12 bucks to buy their CD.Chuck E. I really agree with this statement, it's almost kind of like the "blueprint" of the groups/artists I likeChuck E. Jesus wrote:the reason a good band can stay together is because the people who make it up are crucial
edit: plenty more hits to go around chuck!

This began as the junk topic I split off a serious thread that was supposed to be about Trip-hop Techniques. No way I'd bother to re-split it. Au contraire; my statement expresses the agreement most complete with your advice, that being that dw ought not to hesitate to jump in. No hypnotic tail-waving required. (Though some may occur. It is largely involuntary / unconscious, like finger-drumming or nail-chewing in humans.)
