Is it going to be a downloadable upgrade? How much will it cost? (SampleTank "L" user here)
It will be a downloadable upgrade for SampleTank 2 XL users (and I think SampleTank L users too but I am not sure yet). The cost for ST2XL users is nothing. Again I am not sure for L users. But you can also upgrade from L to XL by emailing sales@esoundz.com This is nice because you get the extra sounds.

Yes. Steve Miller and I will be walking around talking about Ocean Way Drums which is being released at AES. But we're doing pre-orders next week for that and also SampleTank 2.5 and SampleMoog (Studiophonik and SampleTron to follow shortly after). So I will be busy making the rounds!

Post

Hey Dave,
If you're talking to Mr Miller, tell him thanks for letting me use one of his amps at a dance in Ketchum,Idaho New Year's Eve 2002. Larry Flynn was the promoter. Ocean Way Drums?!? I just laid out the coin for the REX Pak group buy. Sheesh!

Post

I meant Steven Miller, engineer for Dave Matthews, Switchfoot etc. who is my partner along with Allen Sides the owner of Ocean Way Studios. If that's who you mean but I have a feeling you mean The Joker. ;)

Do do do do.

That's cool he lent you an amp though! Regarding Ocean Way... I am going to start a thread on it. There's a lot to talk about.

By the way, ST2.5 is a free upgrade for all registered ST2XL users. Not bad eh? IK has offered a lot of free updates for ST2 users. First 2.1 and 2.2 and now even 2.5! You get CSR and a whole new effects system plus improved Stretch and a bunch of other nice features. It can read all of the Sonik Instruments and Miroslav Philharmonik too! It's pretty sweet!
hey squids do you know if they fixed the mousewheel to scroll the patches/library? that's about the most annoying thing i've found about it and the only complaint i can give :)

That's already been done in the current version 2.2 (that was also a free update). But only when it can be done. Sometimes hosts conflict with it because the scrollwheel does something else. So I am not sure if works this way in ALL formats but on my Cubase/PC set up it does when you click on the module.

Yes, there will be news posted soon. We're just getting the pre-orders ready for people that want to upgrade or crossgrade from any other IK product because you can get a discount. If you already own ST2XL well it's free!

Anyone buying ST2.5XL from www.esoundz.com will get some downloadable sound credit though as a bonus.

In regards to the scrollwheel, it does not work in Sonar. I assume that means that it is something to do with Sonar. I would be interested in seeing a discussion between the Bakers and the people at IK to find out what the solution is. Any idea what the problem is, so we could begin that dialog???

There's one other issue I've had with Sampletank that I would like to begin a dialog on. My piano style tends to be a sort of piano man style, like Elton John or Billy Joel with a lot of repeat chords and notes played with the sustain pedal held down. The problem I have it that invariably I have to release the sustain pedal in order to prevent notes from cutting off dramatically. The most recently played note will stop without fully playing, and cut off the sound immediately. The phenom I'm trying to describe can be reduced by raising the polyphony on the instance, but that doesn't eliminate the problem, it only makes it occure less. I'm wondering if it's something to do with the way it allocates the priority of the note commands. I don't expirience this phenomenon when using the Kontakt player for GPO. Is anyone aware of this at IK?

after hearing it worked in other hosts, here are my findings:

cantabile: nope
ext: nope
flstudio: yep

haven't tried T3, orion, or renoise yet.

sonar: nope

so far flstudio works :)

Post

No go here for Sonar either - would really love to see this fixed. I understand that Cakewalk is pretty good about working with developers to make stuff work in sonar...would be a great step to making this stuff work better.

Post

Not sure but I will ask about it. It could have to do with their VST support possibly. I don't know. The same VST verson works in Cubase.
