I'd like to force incoming notes (c1-c5) to a range of c2-c3.
Notes outside that range shouldn't be dropped but get transposed. I've searched on www.midiplugins.com but, no luck. :help:
(Using Ableton Live)

flstudio has an offline process to do what you want, the stuff outside the range can get 'wrapped'. it's in the fl piano roll. do you need it to happen in realtime or is a offline process ok? if offline is ok, try downloading fl studio demo and see if it would work for you. you can insert it as a vsti into live and edit your midi in the pr, then export to midi, and reimport into live.

it's not perfect or realtime but it would work for what you want to do.

This may help.

Also I tad more complex. You may be able to set up some rules in Mung1 that'l work..

thanks for the suggestions, guys! i need realtime-processing.
i already tried the ndc plugin but couldn't get any notes out of it in Live (i think it only forces to scale though anyway).
with the nicfit plugin i'd probably have to create a rule for each possible note (not practicable and probably possible with Live's built-in tools if you create a cascade of racks).
further suggestions welcome :D

If you are using live you can do this with the "scale" midi plugin. Set the range to +12st, set the lowest note to the octave you want and activate the fold button. Also make sure that you haven't selected one of the presets as I assume you don't want to conform to a specific scale. I do this all the time with the "random" midi plugin before it to randomize drum kits.

thank you very much! works great! :hail: :hail: :hail:

@justin3am: i've played around with the scale plug-in a lot but that folding just didn't work. just tried it again and no go. the notes i need to force to an octave are generated by the old smartelectronix conseqfx plug-in which shows some other weird behaviour (no note off sent, but i get around that problem by using Live's note length midi plug-in). i guess that might be the reason why Live's scale plug-in doesn't work.

Thanks again everyone, a night of kaotic madness (pressed into a house corset) is about to begin for me. :borg:
