this is incredibly great update. the only thing i've noticed is disk loading time is a tad slower. but for the added functionality it is a small price to pay. it might only be on initial load that it's slow too, can't tell yet.

has anyone experienced increased disk loading times though?

I was, but I realized the new version checks relist on start up. Turn that off, and things will load dramatically quicker.

What is the performance benefit of increasing RAM size??

i did that too but i mean just loading sounds. not so much startup.

It went smooth here, too. I'm ready to say this is a great update!! Been kicking the tires and it's working great.

Now that I'm going to have all the REX files, it would be cool if Sampletank handled those.

THANKS to IK Tech Support, I got 2.5 installed and it is as was intended: backwards compatible with older songs (well this years anyway, have not checked 2005-6 sets)

Yes. Andy the new sales manager at esoundz is calling up customers to introduce himself as are Mike and Allen to see what people have and if they need any help. You can of course call them at 954 846 9447. Basically, it's a HUMAN approach to taking a look at what you've bought on esoundz and seeing what they can do for you. Maybe they can get you half price on the bonus disc or make a bundle deal or do something special if you are a silver, gold or platinum member. If you don't call them they'll be calling or emailing you over the next two weeks anyway.

As I am an update-lazy user, I'm still on 2.0.x over here.

Can I install 2.5 directly on top or do I have to download every version inbetween and install them all, one after the other?

I too was using version 2.0...I downloaded 2.5 and just ran the installer. Now I have both versions running fine on my system....it seemed to just install the new version alongside my other one.

Yep. It's very popular since it is free and there are so many SampleTank 2 users who want it. Keep trying or check back later. Their server is overloaded at once. I've never seen it this bad before but then again this is a sweet update to have for free.
