Also, Boogex works great for loading IRs, you just have to set it for clean to bypass it's own preamp/distortion (turn down the Tone control, etc.).

There is also keFIR. I haven't really given this one a good try yet, though.

Ha - didn't see your post for the Revolverb link, tomg. :dog:

No problem... :) FWIW keFIR works much better on my system for cab impulses than Revolverb, looks nicer too. Revolverb develops a clicking sound for some reason.

It's a latency issue. :?

After Wagner Sharp insert some guitar cabinet emulation.

Enjoy.
Yeah, thanks Nick!! This is definately top notch for high gain!!

I also just discovered a great guitar use for Nick's TubeDriver, in front of Studio Devil BVC to reduce gain (turn TubeDrivers output volume down) and make it able to produce a fantastic rich clean tone, it really cleans up the midrange and adds sparkle! Then bypass for some of the best amp-sim crunch available straight out of SD BVC!

Now it is possible to go from rich "expensive" clean, to gutsy touch sensitive crunch, to über-gain all for free thanks to Nick Crow, Studio Devil BVC, Boogex, etc (BlockFish, CamelCrusher, Ariesverb, all the great cab IRs out there, ... ), not to mention all the movement on the commercial front. This is a great time to be a guitar player!! :)
what do you mean by 'bypass' ? I don't get it :help:

I just meant that I can bypass the TubeDriver altogether and just run the guitar signal right into Studio Devil for crunch tone (more gain because I'm not using TubeDriver to reduce the input level). Actually, I have a totally different .ext project for crunch but it is pretty much the same thing, but without TubeDriver and I have Studio Devil set up a little different (more gain, etc).

So the best ampsim ever for hi gain and only 3 pages ? After all the hype for the alternatives ?

Post

Well, best FREE ampsim for hi gain. I still like my gearbox metalpack a bit more. But this freebie is really good, and FREE!

Here in REAPER ReaVerb most of the time, but SIR is still outstanding; you need (full) latency compensation though:

I agree, this is very good. Playing it with amplitube's cabsim, the distortion is better in wagnersharp than amplitube's own amps. How much does the plugin oversample? The CPU usage is pretty high, but it doesn't matter if the sound is good.

Excellent. :tu:

Will check it out. :)
