Ok after 2 years of hesitation and following all evolution of the TI's different problems and solutions, I am seriously considering getting a Virus TI.
Since my sequencer is FL Studio 7, I'd really really appreciate TI+FL users here tell me their experiences, now with the new 2.5 o.s. which is supposed to work better in FL.

It's actually a lot of money so before taking the plunge I'd like to know what I'm going to encounter. I'm going to use it specifically to create tracks in my studio (not for live use, so) and to use it as a VSTi inside FL with its VirusControl.

thanks in advance.

Sorry, I have a Ti but I use Cubase SX3. VirusControl (still have 2.0.5) is solid as a rock here.

Maybe check out the VirusTi Forum ?

Even if you should have problems with the VSTi, you can always run the Virus as a regular hardware synth while you wait for an OS update. I also had a VirusB without VirusControl, but that never stopped me from creating sounds and music with it.

I suggest you head over to the official fl studio forums...there are tons of topics about FL + Virus Ti.

Ok so I will answer this...I just got the Virus TI a week ago and I am a rabid FLS user, I also use Cubase SL to lay down audio tracks mainly so I have expereince with the two. I have spent the last week researching and figuring things out. I have the update 2.0.5 TI Firmware as well as FLS 7. For the Money dont get it if you are getting it for the reason I was...I wanted a great synth with a built in VST Gui. Flat out it still has huge problems with the ARP syncing in FLS its just all over the place. Not to mention the huge delay issue that can be a hassle, I dotn want to have to use Delay/Latency Compensation for every TI track I use, this is ludicrous for 2 grand. I use a delta 1010 so that might be a problem but its a hell of a card and I have yet to find anyone saying anything bad about it. The Virus TI input driver (Not main ASIO) has a 65ms lantency....wow. Some say to have gotten it working but have yet to offer the configurtion they are using. I wont go into all the other draw backs but it most certainly is not a quick upstart. You will spend allot of time configuring to get it to work in FLS..I am so very dissapointed but must face the fact Virus is still way Buggy in FLS. Now when I use it in Cubase...its rock solid after making sure the proper TI Virus ASIO is loaded and some configuring. Drawback for me? Cubase blows as a sequencer...plain and simple. So I am taking my TI back to the store. 2000.00 bucks can buy allot of shit. It has its merrits dont get me wrong... but its draw backs are dealbreakers for me.

Sorry to hear you couldn't figure it out... the Virus Ti is an amazing synth. We have been using it for several months now, sequencing it in both FL 7 and in FL 4.5 because I still prefer using that version for certain things.

Yes it is certainly quirky, but nothing that can't be managed with a little effort. We have it running with 1ms latency using the Ti input ASIO driver. It took some messing around to figure out how to get it running like that... but I guess theres no need to bother going into details since you are returning your machine.

I guess my point is: a little patience can go a long way.

We also have it running in Traktion, Audiomulch, and Bidule with no problems.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I don't have any but I think that's mainly because I don't use the Ti as an audio interface (I still use my Presonus Firebox ASIO drivers).

I use the Ti audio outputs when playing with 0 latency. When I'm recording, I use the USB output which has the same latency as my audio card, 6 msec.

Man, I don't know what to do. To pay 2000 euros to discover if I'll have many problems or not is too much...but I'd like to have that synth so much...
Actually, I had a Virus Indigo for a year, but sold it not because I didn't like its sound, which I love, but because I am so used to work with soft synths, total recall and those things, I never got used to working with it.
That's why the fact that VirusControl works well or not is so important to me, I don't want to use the TI as a regular hardware synth, I want to make use of its VSTi interface.

I use FL7, my soundcard is Terratec Phase 88, and I usually work at latency 11ms. Depending on the users' experiences I read, I move between 'man I'm going to order it right now' and 'no way i'm going to spend so many bucks on it'.

Ti be, or not ti be, that is the question...

There are other things you've got to keep in mind when working with hardware : real time export for example. No matter how integrated it is, when you render your Ti midi track to audio, you have to play through the whole song. Unlike VSTi's which render much faster to audio tracks.

Might also be something to consider when you're used to working with softsynths.

Best thing is to get a Ti on 'loan' from the shop for a week or so. Then you can find out if it fits your style of working. I usualy do that with all expensive hardware.

Yeah, that's something I didn't like, but something I can get used to anyway, I guess. As far as I have all the different sounds perfectly recalled in each project, something which I imagine VirusControl provides.

I don't think I can get a TI on loan in my country, that sounds strange. What I can get is a 30-days-money-back option on some stores, but that's that.

hmm hardware synths are restrictive in their workflow....
