Yes, i got a message "this application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem."
Shame, because i like Nicolas Fournel's other stuff (clicker etc)...

Nicely done Tuz and Ben
I didn't participate this version of the Developer Challenge ( didn't have good ideas, and celibrated summer
).
So far there are some really nice entries, well done guys.
Had a good laugh while checking UGO his entry, and reading the presetpage
Nice random presets UGO, well done
"Rhythmic Tangent" by Matias Monteagudo & Jeff Rhodes is cool as well, like it a lot.
I would like to note that entry "blip" by Nicolas Fournel is not giving me sound, a shame because i was really curious to hear what i sound like ( loaded a pic of myself
).
Also exporting the pic as .wav didn't work ( get an empty wavefile ).
Also "Alieno" by Acrobat is not giving me sound ( Host: FL 7 ), tried several things.
Will check out other entries soon, there are a lot
Cya!

Ok, theres some great entries that i've tried so far, i'm having problems with some of them though.....
Alien artifact crashes my host(EXT2) on loading....
Kable i can't get it to start, it's giving me some long error message when i click the exe.
Blip is also giving me a message about configuration being incorrect, that someone else mentioned, and will not load.
These are the only ones i've had any problems with so far, but i've not tried them all yet.
Is anyone else having the same problems with the mentioned apps?
cheers

Strange....that one works fine for me, i really like it, it's got a very SCI-FI sound to it.XGmode wrote:Also "Alieno" by Acrobat is not giving me sound ( Host: FL 7 ), tried several things.

I've had similar issues w/Herc's Alien Artifact.
Does not load, only produces an error message in Energy Xt, Reaper, and Savihost. I re-installed Microsoft Net 3, same deal.
Blip loads, I think it needs a huge screen size, I can't even see the bottom. Haven't got any sound yet, the manual say there's a play key, but I can't see it.
Acrobatics Alieno is the clear winner on originiality so far, even if it takes up 20-40% CPU.

Once again, many thanks to Tuz and Ben for putting all this together.
And also thanks goes out to all the other devs that entered...41 entries is a very nice turnout.

With all the other projects I've got in the works, I was short on time but I really wanted to try to join in the spirit of the DC this year and be able to donate another bit of freeware to the world through it. The idea of The Element of Surprise came from both an interest in exploring a few construction experiments (especially what it would take to make a random synth that still produced useful sounds most of the time), and also from my interest in creating a synth that would work well with the writing exercise that has helped my music so much. (The info on that is in the pdf, found in the zip.)
So my entry is not really an attempt to win anything, but I do hope that you all have fun with it.
(...And if you have writers block right now, read the pdf!)

Glad you got a kick out of that.XGmode wrote:Had a good laugh when seeing UGO his entry, and reading the presetpage

Try refreshing your VSTplugins folder selecting "more..." and check if my synth is selected...that's all I can say...Acrobat wrote:Ok I'll try to verify this immediately!XGmode wrote:

Thank you very much RunBeerRun, but I think there are some very tech stuff in the lot... I took it as a joke but some people went really serious here!! I'm frightened!!RunBeerRun wrote: Acrobatics Alieno is the clear winner on originiality so far, even if it takes up 20-40% CPU.

Lol, I liked it. I'm downloading them in order from top to bottom, and I've tried up to that ffdelay one.
Alieno is far better than average soundwise.
I also like "bagels" which is another Synthmaker synth. The presets on that are boring, but it's fun to tweak in it.
