I was so intrested in testing this tool and compare it to Coagula which has been my tool for such sounds until now but, I can't. It gives me an error that Blip hasn't been properly installed. So can you give us an installer so we can get it properly installed? Would make things much easier.

Thanks in advance.

Runs fine here and it is different than coagula as it is not a synthesizer but a sequencer if I have understood it correctly.

The 64 channels midi files it outputs aren't easy to work with though as most apps will just choke on them. I could just load them in Midget but I am not sure whether I lost 48 channels or if they got merged into 16 by Midget, cos I haven't loaded samples into it.

I think it would be very nice if it had midi-out.

So it doesn't make sound on it's own? I think it does..

Post

Blip definitely makes sound on its own. The "export MIDI" function is just that, an export function...

Have you managed ? I have tried a little while but without succes.

NickSonic is the developer. Quoting him from the other thread:

To get a sound from Blip you will first need to create your kit, i.e. associate a sound with each row of the grid. Then you can press on play and start composing / drawing in real-time (or not if you don't want to)

To create a kit, select wave files in the kit editor (little drum icon).

You can either select files manually, or select a whole folder to fill the kit automatically in one click. You can also ask Blip to choose samples randomly on your hard disk for some crazy loops, or ask it to slice a long wave into 64 shorter samples and assign them.

If you don't know what Blip's icons are for, simply hover over them, and a short hint is displayed at the bottom of the window.
Make sure to read the pdf documentation as a lot of shortcuts and tricks are available to use the program.

Thanks Nick, it's awesome, explorative fun. Especially like the ability to pick folders of samples or randomly!

Importing pictures usually = lovely noise ;)

Good job :D

OK you are NickSonic yourself, lol, did not notice that.

But I was right then, it is a sample sequencer, without samples no sound.

I so want to test this little program out, but I still can't do it. I set the program to compatible mode, none of 'em works. So Blip looks more to me as the flop of this DC.

Nope. Can't get it to work...Yet. Here's Hoping.

eidenk, yes you are right, if you don't load samples in Blip there is no sound. And yes, I think you can call it a pattern sequencer, with graphical tools to edit the patterns.
