Okay, so somebody posted a photo of their homemade spring 'verb a few days ago but I can't for the life of me find it.

Anyway, just found myself a lovely spring tank ripped out of some old organ or something, beautiful dark boiing sound (this I know from tapping on it :hihi:).
Was wondering if anyone knows the level of preamplification that these things generally require to excite the transducer thingy.
(I'll be plugging line-level in, not guitar.)

I'm not afraid to unpack my soldering iron, 'tho free time being what it is would just as readily buy one of those cheap monoblocks from a 'lectronics store.

Thanks,
sk

You can get a schematic, parts list and PCB for a spring reverb at General Guitar Gadgets. I know you aren't intending to use it for guitar, but the documentation is very good and should help. I'm getting a nice Accutronics spring tank at the end of the month for postage, and build myself a reverb tank over winter.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.

Different Springs have different electrical properties. There is no one solution for all springs.
Do you know that you actually need 2 amps ?
A pre amp and a recovery amp.

I've been eyeing that project up myself. smallbear sell the tank for it for $25 or so.

Thanks for the replies. This tank is completely unbranded so I guess it's a matter of trial and error. If nothing else, it sure sounds nice when plugged directly into my soundcard inputs and whacked.

I was aware of that, figured a dual-mono amp and some wiring might sort that out. maybe

found this circuit, which is worth a try.
