Agreed. I have the an Odyssey VSTi layout already done, which I would happily donate to the project.Vonbrucken wrote:the GUI could have been more appealing !

that would be nice really !!Modeler wrote:Agreed. I have the an Odyssey VSTi layout already done, which I would happily donate to the project.Vonbrucken wrote:the GUI could have been more appealing !
i know it is not the GUI that makes the sound , but i find it to be of some importance in the creativity process..

I quite like the gui actually. It's got a nice gritty feel to it and complements the sound. The only thing I could ask for is some sort of units and maybe quantization on the pitch adjust sliders. Oh, and I've only just spotted that the black bits of the switches are the fob, not the background. That's kind of confusing - having the thing indicating the 'off' position stick out from the GUI and the thing indicating the 'on' position blend in...
I'm really liking this plugin, actually. I don't know anything at all about the original Odyssey, but this plugin has a really nice ballsy sound.

i'm curious how i could've improved the gui. i made it exactly like an odyssey. however, i had to eliminate the the left most section and move the parts so the gui would fit on an 800 screen. chris had complaints last time about the size of the gui
i struggled a bit with the l pixel letters
would it have helped to put the groves on the black switches?

I think the GUI is perfect for this plugin. Looks enough like the original. Sounds pretty damn close to the original too actually. Not spot on, but really not that far off. Excellent, excellent work.
I haven't gotten around to trying all the other dev's works yet, will do that today. I just downloaded them all this morning before I left the house, and was dying to try this emu out.
Again, top-job!

Thank you all for the kind words.
Firstly, while any suggestions for a different GUI are kind and much appreciated, I have to say again and again that it really wouldn't be the synth it is without androidlove's fantastic artwork. Even in the sensible light I think it's better than trying to make a 3d-looking GUI cause then you have to worry about all sorts of unnecessary extra shadowing on an already black face panel. So yeh, the GUI will be staying as androidlove's contribution to this project. If he wants to do more for it or update or anything of that sort, that'll be his choice.
And for the SE-made part, I don't mean to be boastful or anything like that but I kinda consider myself a good spokesperson for the potential of SE straight out of the box for this respect: The Oddy-Free uses no 3rd-party modules or recycled scripting or layout. Everything with it was made from the ground up using nothing but internal SE modules. Tell me the power isn't there now, all you SE bashers.
If that's one thing I'd like to accomplish, it's not saying that SE is the best out there, it's saying that yes SE can stand quite competently on its own when its full potential is tapped.
But anywho, the most important thing is thanks to all of you giving me the thumbs-up, I appreciate it so much.
In regards to presets, feel more than free to send me anything you've made thus far, even I'm not too fond of most of the presets I did for it.

Didn't mean any disrespect androidlove, the layout is fine - as you say just like the original Odyssey. I wouldn't have mentioned my own attempt it if I hadn't already made it. I can always send it to you if it's of any interest?androidlove wrote:i'm curious how i could've improved the gui. i made it exactly like an odyssey. however, i had to eliminate the the left most section and move the parts so the gui would fit on an 800 screen. chris had complaints last time about the size of the gui

I'm not saying mine is any better, just done differently.

I Agree.More presets is good. In fact I really can't understand how one could spend so much energy on making a nice app. and then not making any presets , even for oneself. That not about Oddy per se cause there's sufficient presets, but you know when you get one with 6 or less its a bit deflating for the experience.Okay.Gucky wrote:I like the Oddy free too. Its a fantastic synth. Oddy gets my voice !!!!!
But I would like to have more presets for that synth.

i will second that..
i keep my brightness/contrast at minimum settings (laptop.. not all that minimum if you as me..) and have a hard time with dark guis. i can't see the buttons on the gui :p
whenever i watch youtube (dynamic content..) i have to turn my gamma way up so i must be the odd one out.
