i don't think the japanese pay more than $40 equivalent a month for their 20 megabytes per second connections. America just sucks like that. Those asians know whats up with technology. They get everything 4 years before it even sees the light of day over here.

maybe you didn't realise that these countries have more density population than the USA (31 /km² for the US , 337 /km² for japan , 480 /km² for South Korea) , having fast brodband connection is more easy for them .No companies ever will found it to be wothwhile to install these kind of connections for three dudes and a cow lost in the countryside ..

yeah but i live in san jose, ca. There's more money here than most other places on the planet (there a lamborghini, lotus, ferrari, and a rolls dealership all within about 5 miles of my house...) You think cable companies could make a more concerted effort at this type of thing. I think it would increase business productivity in general by a huge margin.

How? By enabling people to send all those 2GB word & excel documents I've been hearing so much talk about?

As part of my job, I transfer quite a lot of large video files, and often have to resort to mailing a stack of DVD's filled with uncompressed video. I would certainly make use of a faster connection...

i think until a cable company start to break the market with a real fast broadband connection service (of course with unlimited use of bandwicth as we have in most of the western european countries )it will take long to happen ..
Most of the time ,companies will concentrate their effort to maintain the "status quo".
In countries like japan or south korea the governments themselves have putted a lot of money in developing these kind of tehcnologies , in france the phone network was held by a public company .
It is more a problem of politic decision rather than just a basic market regulation , here stop obviously the benefits of "the invisible hand".

um... realtime multi-network video conferencing, huge pdf reports, video transfers, automatic upload folders, realtime collaboration and database manipulation, large executable transfers, network cpu load sharing for complex design problems...

can you imaging if you're hard-drive transferred data to your ram as fast as current uploads caps run? Would you want to use a computer anymore?

Imagine if the internet was like one big shared harddrive. How effective would that be? I'm betting that people used to think data transfer rate for usb 1.1 was already plenty quick. But that's not very forward thinking.

Internet 2 is nice and speedy, but unfortunately it's education-institutions only.

go in Korea it is already working or at least it is really close to what you just described .
@ aetmos :

the internet 2 is nothing if there is not a modern internet network architecture(broad enough bands for really high speed data transfer) , the fact that it is only limited to some universities is a plain non sense , and unless (wich i clearly doubt) they have constructed the cables joining the universities between them , they have to use the ordinary communications network.

I know it doesn't load wavs but what about other Yellow Tools libs? Do they have their own format actually?

Post

Hi guys.

I just had a mail from my friend Drazen at YellowTools (the magician behind all the samples). It seems like they have been getting so much traffic that they have been having trouble handeling it. At the same time that had a server breakdown. Yepp, that's bad timing. :-)

They hope to be 100% back on track tomorrow or the day after that.

The full version of Independence will import WAV and a few other formats. When you buy the full version you will also get a special deal on "Chicken Systems - Translator Independence Edition" for just $49. Will convert pretty much anything into Inde-format. It's just amazing!
