Hello,

I use the SR202 v1.1 (from the latest issue of Computer Music) up till now only with the WAV files which come with the LM-9 in Cubase. Now I want to import my own recorded drum sample in the SR202 but when I load the file by using the L-button in the pad section, the SR202 gives the error message "Bad file!". The spec's of this WAV file are the same as those of the WAV files which come with the LM-9 in Cubase (PCM, 44.100 Hz, 16 bit, mono). What's wrong with this file? What is the best way to record samples as WAV files to use them in the SR202?

How large is the .wav file in question?Can you send it to me for examination?I'll see if I can help.What program did you use to record the .wav? Is it possible there is embeded information in the file(loop points etc)? Let me know.

I've already got this one in an email haven't I? the sample is probably broken somewhere, won't take too long to figure it out. The best thing you can do is open the sample in a reputable wave editor like Wavelab or Cool Edit and save it to a new file. This will cure 99% of all known corrupted WAV file problems.

Yes, I have send it to you under my real name which I never use in forum posts. Maybe you can tell me what's wrong with this file, because Cubase (in which it is recorded and exported), Soundforge and Windows Media Player play it without having problems.

It's a public holiday here in the UK so I'm not in the office to check in detail, but I can tell you that there's probably a corrupted chunk in the WAV file. Not all applications create WAVs correctly.

Just open the file in Soundforge, and save it again to a new file - that should fix the problem.

This file has a broken RIFF chunk header. It is reporting the chunk size to be 16 bytes larger than it actually is. Since SR202 has no way of knowing what's happened to the missing 16 bytes, it rejects the file.

All development of the CM instruments is directed by CM themselves - so I can't really say for sure. However I would imagine that at the moment they have no plans to extend the CM software in any way at all once the forthcoming OSX versions are out.
