Well, it is really not about that, it is a matter of product design and focus, we listen to our customers, but that does not mean that we implement every single change that ya peeps ask us for. The TBK series of plugins are ment to be simple easy to use plugins with a minimum parameter set, still providing a high end result. Every little bit about the plugins are thought thru in detail, the dry/wet effect, can be achieved in most hosts in other ways, and will probably not be implemented in the TBKs as you know them today.
Still, now we know that peeps like the dry/wet concept, so in the future we will most probably seriously consider the idea, if the purpose of the plug-in we create is fitting with that concept.
Fairy nuff?
Cheers,
JFN

in all fairness, I am not sure I know too many dry/wet eqs and compressors.. I do not see a logical reason for a dry/wet eqJFN wrote:Well, it is really not about that, it is a matter of product design and focus, we listen to our customers, but that does not mean that we implement every single change that ya peeps ask us for. this is the kinda stuff that is important on Phasers, fflangers delays, and verb... because you only use a little tiny percentage...

dry/wet is needed for parallel compression ('New York style compression')

im from new york, we put the compresser on the second bus, and drop the fader...

then you can do the same with phasers, flangers, etc.

lol... not really because then theoretically your also doubleing the original signal as well.... that is what the type of compression is about.... good for drums...

nope - not if you make them 100%johnny2johnny wrote:jens wrote:then you can do the same with phasers, flangers, etc.

You mean doubling the original signal as opposed to pulling up the fader, yes?that is what the type of compression is about.... good for drums...

Parallel compression, also known as New York compression, is a technique used in sound recording and mixing. Parallel compression is achieved by mixing a dry or slightly compressed signal with a heavily compressed identical signal. It is thought to maintain the subtleties of a performance while stablizing the dynamics. Additionally, the attack and release settings of the compressor can be set in a manner that causes the signal to "pump" or "breathe" in tempo with the song, adding an identifiable character to the sound. It is most usually used on drum busses.

i couldnt choose it from their user ordering page...
If you still have not got your answer (though you probably have), we do accept paypal, but you will have to contact support and get the transaction initated manually from us.
Thanks!

My god, where has all this come from? Parallel compression is mixing the unaffected signal with a compressed one to keep the transients of the original but blending some of the smacky character of a highly compressed signal.
Some hosts do not implement plugin delay compensation effectively and this will create a smeared/phasy sound ruining the sound as the clean signal mixes with a slightly advanced effected signal. A mix control resolves this prolem by mixing inside the plugin and taking the PDC out of the equation. End of. Where's the confusion?

You just brought it in, me thinks.scoobz wrote:Where's the confusion?
What do you mean with implementing PDC 'effectively'? - either the host has PDC or it has not.scoobz wrote:My god, where has all this come from? But anyway I'm not sure what you are referring to here, since PDC (or the lack thereof) is only of concearn if the compressor/limiter introduces any noticeable latency in the first place - this will usually only be the case if it has got a lookahead-function, which doesn't appear to be the case with TBK3.
This thread has become a fine collection of half-knowledge.

I'm just gonna let this go, I can't be arsed with a flame war. I've said everything I have to say on the matter in my post, there is no half knowledge in there. If there wasn't an issue with phasing why would I waste my time posting?
Anyway, thanks for getting involved lol

Well some years have gone by and I consider buying it now although I can't demo it because I wasted my trial period when I just wanted to play around with some new plugs....
Would you still recommend buying it? As far as I know no updates have been made, and it looks like they won't come in the future.
