Okay I've redone my old Transient Shaper plug-in. Facts:
Controls:
Attack: -200% to 200%
Sustain: -200% to 200%
Smoothness: 0% to 100%
Out Volume: -20dB to 0dB
It works by the same principle as the SPL transient shaper (note it is NOT modeled after it nor otherwise related).
No GUI, VST 2.3, C++
Any comments, feedback, suggestions, reports, whatsoever welcome.
EDIT: It is now final and included in the plug-in bundle on http://loser.asseca.com/

Sounds interesting. I'm a huge fan of the Spl transcient designer so i definitely will check your plugin out. This type of plug is one of my favorites
.
T2 Icarus is a must. SonicCore SCOPE is the most. As heart of studio it has my vote, cause XITE-1 is all she wrote.

Sounds good!
MUCH better than transhape, the smoothness knob is a welcome addition. It's that good that it sounds relatively unspectacular, not so much like an FX but relatively natural. Like it. Thanx a lot, Michael!

Well, you tell me!wsaidah wrote:does it beat dominion! thats the top freeware Transient Shaper
I mean it is definitivly different than Dominion, so it comes down to what ever someone might like more...
Note: This is only a beta, so I'm really up for opinions here, since I barly ever used a Transient Modeler before, let alone code one. So tell me what you don't like about it and I see if I can change it

i dont like the GUI, a nice betabugs like interface would be coool
)
but the plugin itself works as it should do... i think
thank you for this one, because i was looking for something like this for a long time.
i am playing around with it for some hours now and i did not find a bug. it is rock solid.
also the range of knobs is quite useful, nothing to grump here...

Hurray! I'm excited to try this as, should you feel egotistical enough to look at the VSTs-used list in my songs, I use your original all the time since I discovered it.

To me it sounds way better than Dominion which was cool back then but it sounded too grainy which is the reason why I stopped using it.LOSER wrote:Well, you tell me!wsaidah wrote:does it beat dominion! thats the top freeware Transient Shaper

What was cool in Dominion was that it had these time sliders. At least for the attack it would be cool to be able to dial in the length of the "transient". But even now it's very useful and sounds good to me.

Well you can make it (i.e. the rooms the drums are in) sound wider or smaller, by boosting/cutting the Sustain (and therefore the room's reverb) so they apear to be closer/further away, however, this might tear the cymbals apart. But I might not get your question right, thoughwsaidah wrote:here is a test you can do! take a drum overhead and see if you can make it sound closer and still natural.
Anyway, made a small update, basicly just added a prevention from sudden overshoots :/ (this might make things a bit more "grainy" (whatever that means), but should be that much).
Now I'll just be working on the Sustain a bit more and then I'd say it is done.
P.S. Please tell me if this or any other upcoming update ruins the sound ...

It's a good plug-in however not having it's own Gui gives the Dominion the edge.
What's essential about a custom designed GUI is having a way to monitor the wet mix on that particular instrument and, not having to gauge it with your Master LEDs.
Of course, you can use the channel strip LEDs. However they are never fast enough under peak conditions.
Hardware speaking. I own a DBX Expander and, it offers three indicators based on the frequencies being affected by the effect. So, you have a set of LEDs that monitor the Highs, Mids, and Low Frequencies.
If you can some how make a GUI with indicators so see how much dB your material is expanding you will have a great VST.
