I don't know if this is a bug or is part of the emulation, but in renoise there is a hum emitting from the plug after initialisation. After playing a note the hum dissapears.
Been playing with it for a minute, but sounds good! cheers

Lookee what I found!
http://www.arpodyssey.com/oddypatch.html
and it's big brother...
http://www.arpodyssey.com/patches.html
The Roger Powell audio tutorial/book on the site taught me a lot about the Odyssey, which I'll try to apply on OddyFree. It goes into a lot of basic synth sound-making practical theory.
The pictures of the patches are an easy transfer to the layout of OddyFree.

Hi Chris
I like the oddy too ...but
The Gui is surely a matter of taste.
But it would be possibly bigger Butons and possible Sliders to use?
The Sound is really rather near to the original.
Good work but you still could increase the value of him a little with a nicer Gui,
and perhaps more Presets.

chris wanted the small gui because ppl complained that his last entry was too large. also, i found anti-aliasing the text made it look bad
i'll whip up some buttons with more contrast. any other requests?

bump
to recap, i can't make the gui bigger, blur is bad, 3d isn't nessesary
it looks just like an arp odessey. i don't know how i can improve the emulation other than desaturating the slider caps
i can add grooves to the black buttons to make them more visible. are there any other requests that fit within the parameters?

The GUI is the just the right size as it is. I'll happily see if I can do anything with the fonts, save you repeating work you've already done. Tell me to butt out if the feel I'm trying to out-do you, which I'm not but I can see how it might look that way.androidlove wrote:bump

I wish I could contribute more towards these freeware projects, but I can't code for toffee so a bit of graphics work is the best I can do for now. I'm also a devout ARP fan.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

You could for instance have used the whiteface model as example :androidlove wrote:i'm curious how i could've improved the gui. i made it exactly like an odyssey. however, i had to eliminate the the left most section and move the parts so the gui would fit on an 800 screen.

What I dont like about the gui is the background pattern. I would prefer an even colour (darkgray/blackish or lightgray/whitish) That would make it much more readable. And, maybe I missed something again, but is there no midi-learn? I think midi-learn always adds greatly to the usability of a VST-synth.
I like the sound though. So thanks for this nice freebie

I was going to suggest that too
I have no real qualms about the gui, big enough on my laptop. I just prefer dark controls on light backgrounds...
But on to the stuff that really matters: the sound. Congrats Chris, for stock SE modules you've conjured up a bit of a monster, i can get some amazing filter sweeps with this plug. Nice one.

+1 for the whiteface gui.
A friend had an original whiteface in his posession for a short while in the house we were sharing, I had the chance to play it several times and this sounds pretty close. The sample and hold really works.
Well done! I don't really care that much about the gui when it sounds this good.
