Wow, that's odd. It seems to be running fine for me in the demo of FL7. Anyone else running into this problem?

My first impression, overwhelmingly, is:

there's a lot of innovative thinking going on behind the scenes this year!

kudos!

Post

my first impression is

synths:
i like the guitars, and of course i love the wind, rain, storm - actually that was my kvr-dev request - yes!
(thx sooo much, xoxos!!! one vote for you) :-)

fx:
well i like all the crazy-weird fx

..too much to check out... phew

Post

Hi Ugo :)

Big sorry ..Perhaps is it due to Win-XP?
I run it under Win ME (my favourite ;) )
Or does it need the SSE expansion?

Kind regards ... NEK

You're all crazy (devs) :!:

Lots of interesting stuff and you can see that many times a lot of man-hours have been spent (hopefully those deservedly get their votes).
I still have only scratched the surfaces, but wanted to already add my respect and thanks for the great variety of the new free plugins and applications :D

Post

Lots of great stuff, but then there's the stuff that don't work or worse. For me they are-Naj Naj-scan crash--Vocal V-scan crash--Alien Artifact-no show or crash--Acrobat Alieno-I really wish it would work but no sound,GUI-Five Stars. IFF is beautiful but really needs some presets. Impressed with Pitch Black-OddyFree-Elements of Surprise-Sounds of Nature-Blip-Wavetransit-Modulad. And other like Hypercyclic-Kitr-Rastabox-NRR Flicker-Quasimodo(a beast)-truc(coolio)-Rhythmic Tangent-Dr.Modus-Phase Bender-and...did I forget anything. Gotta thank all the developers and organizers and KVR. SWEET 1 !!!

Good questions...I'm not sure about Win ME. I am also not entirely sure if any of the modules I used require SSE or not. I checked a few of the devs' sites and didn't notice any mention of that, but that does not mean one of them might not be making use of it. I don't have access to a non-SSE computer at home or at work, so I cannot test that out. It is possible that either of those may be the cause though.

I knew I was not alone on this planet :hihi:

UGO's plug, which is great, runs fine here btw. But I run ME on an SSE CPU I think (Athlon XP).

Great job, devs. I've only had time to go thru each one for about 5 minutes after downloading a few days ago - and still haven't checked out about 10 of them - but I am impressed with the entries. Good luck to everybody.

Not intentionally leaving anyone out, but these stick out in my memory as being the ones I played with most on the first run through.

Alieno
Dr. Modus
Ellipsis
Hypercyclic
Pitch Black
Element of Surprise
Truc
Oscine Tract and Synsect

i've only tried the plugs in muzys since t1 takes forever to find new plugs when one already has a few hundred. therefore, i had to put up with some clicks, no routing, unrecognized plugs, and a possibly higher cpu hit. i've never looked into raising muzy's sample rate. however, in t1, i don't notice a diff when i do

when i do my next plug organizing in t1, i'll test pangloss, bizunefxr, and mst resynfx

alien artifact - it will be nice for pads once i learn the controls

alieno. the sound is top notch. it's easy to tweak. it's deceptivly packed. can't wait for cpu improvement

flicker - i'd use it if it had a sequencer

iff synth - it's a breeze to design beautiful sounds. the cpu hit is a let down

oddy free - big thick and powerful. the behavior took me by pleasant surprise. i love to tweak it.

bouncer - fantastic results. i love the control it gives me over the sound

ffdelay. lfo yes. filters yes. fun way

at this point, i'm deciding between alieno and oddy free for the #1 spot

my first impression is that it is going to take me a while to even figure out what each plug has to offer! I'm glad for the loooong voting period. A wonderful problem to have. :)

Same here. Sure, you can just swap the more straight forward synths and effects into a test project in your host and play away but it seems a lot of this years entries need a bit of thought with regard source material etc.

Whoops...initially posted this to the bugs/solutions thread.
mi apologia...

Alien Artifact: was sentenced to the "ignore" list by Tracktion 3...

Bagels: looks promising. I like the minimalist interface, but haven't spent enough time with it.

Bini: I like the Woody Guthrie reference/warning on the interface. Couldn't get much out of it, yet. Must experiment more.

Dr. Modus: looks like it might be a simple, lightweight, useable plug. Can I change the assigned note#s?

Flicker: could be useful for "insta-trance" pads! Interface could be prettied up A LOT, though...

Hypercyclic: will require a lot more patience and experimentation. but I like the cut of your jib.

IFF Synth: has one of the slickest interfaces in this batch, but I don't yet "get" what I'm doing w/r/t to wave creation/morphing...

KiTR: I am REALLY tired of incomprehensible/illegible interfaces. If you want to do "cute and child-like," study some of Krakli's interfaces...

KX-MODULAD: looks deep. interface layout seems less-than-logical so far...

Pitch Black: my immediate favourite of these plugins! Nice, clean interface, not bad CPUsage. I don't yet see how a vowel formant filter particularly lends itself to the kinds of sounds that pitchblack is feeding it, but I can always ignore that to use the thick, fuzzy sounds without delving into that filter section. Some nifty modulation options, too.

Sweet girl blue verb #3: "is a very sophisticated echo plugin." It's also got a stupidly sexist interface. IF you're serious about making plugins for people to use, get serious about how you present them.

Anything I didn't comment on, don't despair: I just haven't gotten around to trying it out yet...

NB: all plugs were downloaded early yesterday afternoon (~1:00 pm, EDT), so whichever version was up yesterday, that's the version I'm using.

20" iMac Intel Core Duo
2GB RAM
Windows XP SP2 (until I can run Wavelab in Mac OS, I'm doing all my audio in Windows.)

Many thanks to all developers for her work!
Unfortunately, I had no time to have a look at
all plugins, but some are already symphatic for me very much:

Element of surprise is very randy!
Rhytmic Tangent groovt.
Phase Bender has some potential but I must try it out longer.
IFF-Synth is rather intense.
Alieno's Gui is quite pretty, the Sound is also ok.
Bagel surfce is too cool for me a little.
I will have a look also more exactly the remaining.
Good work Boys !

M.P.
