jobromedia, it seems that you are missing dlls. Not sure which ones, though. But if you install this, you will be sure to get everything you need to run Blip, and other Windows programs using the same Dlls. It's small.

I got it working with a snare drum sample. I could have some serious fun using this to make drumloops. It's way too big for my screen and awkward to use keys and not see most of the kit menu though.
Let me know if there's any way to "fit size to screen".
Edit: Ok I got it now. K key brings up kits and escape key gets me out of there, space plays, that's all I need to make a drumloop. I'm happy even though it's huge. I'll be voting kindly.

Yes.working now after downloading some of that c++.Works beautiful and smooth and very easy to figure out the basics just by pressing on almost anything on the interface, but it's always good to read up too. Thankyou so very much.A winner!

Its teh aw3some!!
No, really, Blip is my fav. so far...if it had a stretch/re pitch page, it would be kick ass (instead of random pitch). Oh, and VST format in addition to standalone. Then i'd be in gglitchy heaven!!

It is super easy and convenient to program drum loops!

yes, you can select the MIDI port and channel in the settings window. Blip will respond to program changes 1 to 16 and switch to the corresponding pattern.sonicase wrote:hrm this is pretty cool... a little out-of-the-box thinking
are the patterns midi controllable?...
You can also assign MIDI controllers to adjust the overall level of red (volume), blue (pitch) or green(pan) of the grid, move the grid horizontally or vertically, change the tempo or rotate the grid.

I'm thinking about making a VST version if there is enough interest in the future. It was a bit more work to do a stand alone application but as I'm planing on using Blip as a performance tool, it is nice to have a robust stand alone application, independent of any host, fast, and light on memory. And if it crashes, well,... I know where to lookspuddle wrote:So what stopped you going with a VST format?
I also realized recently that it's a really nice tool for children to play with (or other non musicians, like graphic artists etc...) and as such, I guess it's nicer / easier to try if it's a standalone application.

In real life, I'm a teacher and Blip reminds me of an amazing app called "SimMusic" which is discontinued. But the sound quality is here very good, making sets is easy and I think I will use it with my 10 years old pupils.NickSonic wrote:

If you ever do that, I would be very interested to know how it goes.stanlea wrote:In real life, I'm a teacher and Blip reminds me of an amazing app called "SimMusic" which is discontinued. Definitely in the plans now. It has been asked a few times, and I just checked my code and it should not be hard to implement at all. I just need to think about a nice way to select the MIDI port / channel for all the cells. Right now there is a MIDI export, but of course it's not real-time, so you lose all the interest of Blip as a performance tool.eidenk wrote:What about a Midi Out feature ?
