Okay, the zip file of samples wound up corrupted; only 175 megs arrived. I have it downloading again, seems to be almost done. The interface looks really nice, though. I'll comment on the sounds once I actually have them completely here.

I had the same problem. I got 1.4GB the first time around, and had to start over again. Second time worked.

Wow. This is tremendously exciting, as I've had my eyes on this sampler for quite some time as a possible replacement to Kontakt. But the website appears to be completely down to me over here; are any Yellow Tools links working for anyone?

use a download manager such as flashget ...

Got it downloaded & installed okay. The sounds I've had time to try are very good. I think I can use them in some compositions. I should have more time tomorrow to play with it. I want to take some time to read the manual now.

I tried installing this thing last night and discovered that only half of the sample library part of it came through.

And every time I've gone back to retry to d/l, the site is broken.

Annoying.

Quick question if any YT owners are here: how invasive is the copy protection for the Real Thing? At least, for Windows XP/SP2...

It's a dongle. I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever.

I use XP SP2 with YT Candy and have never had a single problem with the dongle.

Never conflicts with any other USB devices... set and forget.

BTW the dongle is Wibu for those interested, NOT Syncrosoft or iLok.

I downloaded Independence Free on Sunday with a download manager. No problems, but it took a couple of hours.

I didn't want to learn the software since I would never buy a VST that requires a dongle, no matter how good it might sound. And this limited download only had a couple of instruments that I have really wanted. I followed someone's suggestion on this thread and sampled what I wanted to keep with High Life, deleted the huge Independence Free files from my drive, and came out with two wonderful new instruments that I will definitely use. They'll be replacing a couple of lame soundfonts that had been sitting on my drive unused.

Thanks, Yellow Tools. Indy Free was well worth the download and I'm impressed with the software and sample qualities (just not impressed by dongles).

Well, not to seem ungrateful, but after trying (and failing) countless times to get this thing, I've decided it just 'aint worth it.

I admire Yellowtools for their generosity, but a 2gig download is just too much in these parts.
