Hi,
I saw on the ian foxfire's site that this new version should fixed the High CPU usage when using Reverb or Pitch/Mod wheels....but I have always a problem with it (crackles with the using of wheels!!!)

I use it on a XP SP2 PC centrino 1.7 ghz and eXT 2.02 beta

I've got the problem with the unison, the echo and the reverb.......no peak cpu but crackles!!!

The reverb crushes my CPU, I can live with external reverb for now. Amazing synth, just a little buggy still.

i was quite unimpressed with this, especially as you used those horrible virus/waldorf samples...im sure thay are not authentic..if they are they have been messed with...so noisy!

What included presets ??? The lack of presets is this synths greatest flaw IMO. And before you call me a 'preset kid', I can make presets with the rest of em, but with 41 entries I doubt most people, myself included, are going to get down to that. A nice set of presets to show what this synth is capable of would have possibly clinched it.

But where are the LFOs?

@Kriminal: This synth appears to use Attila Fustos' WaveDraw SE module, as I recall the Virus/Waldorf waveforms are included with that module. When I checked it out (Wavedraw) I was discouraged by what I assume was the anti-aliasing feature that basically squashed all the fun out of any wave I fed into it, and created a very harsh buzzing noise in the upper keys.

Interface:
I was worried it might be overwhelming, which is why I put together an (online) User Guide, but.... who wants to do a bunch of reading when your going through 41 vsts..?
(userguide link is in the zip file with the .dll)

Note: For those who cant get sound out of it, simpley load it, and start drawing a waveform!!

Wavedraw:
I personally think the AF WaveDraw is very powerful, and no it does not sound exactly like the waldorf or virus. I think they actually have 127 different waves in there wavetable...
But anyways, i personally can and have created some amazing tones, using the morph feature.

Presets:
I will admit the lack of presets will probably hurt me in this one. But i did my best to try and meet the deadline, while working a day job.
Im working on new presets.

Crashes in ableton??
please let me know what version of ableton? and make sure
your running IFF_Synth v1.1

BUG FIXES + Presets
The next relese 1.2 will be out sometime next week.
This version will include the following:
- Preset sounds
- Fix problem with matrix values not being stored in presets
- add bitch crunch effect option in the distortion panel
- add the Arpeggiator (yes, there are plenty of free midi arps out there, but having built in offers instant gratification.

Overall-
This synth will probably keep evolving for quite a while. Your input will help make it better.
also, after i work out the kinks, I might create a sister version using CK oscillators instead of the af wavetable, but that will be an entirely diff monster.

i see no problem with the lack of presets. it's easy to quickly program sounds, and affords great control to the user. it's almost as easy as a random button. this is the best sounding wave draw synth i've heard.

yes, i realize you have to keep note range in mind

I can't seem to understand why the presets will outright kill a synth in some people's eyes. I can understand how it'd be a rocky start coming to grips with it, but seriously how will you truly know if it's good for you anyways if you don't get in there and makes your own presets and patches for your own music?

I might even go so far as to say that if you don't make your own presets with it you don't really have business talking about the specific qualities of the synth, except of course for stupidly obvious things like waveform aliasing or non-working controls or if the thing doesn't even work at all and such.

----This is not about ANY particular synth or effect, but, if the "factory" or built-in presets aren't any good, why should the user think they can do better ? And if there aren't very many, that might as well indicate that the range is very slim. Are these fair assumptions ? Maybe not, but from what I can see/hear, and from how I feel, they are the reality of the situation. "If the creator of the dang thing couldn't make it sound good and show off it's range, then how am I supposed to?!", is kind of how I look at it. However, that said, a dozen great presets are better than 50 mediocre repetitive ones any day, so quality always counts, even in small amounts.

I agree with both of the last comments.

Presets are usefull to show what a synth is capable of, and very usefull for those who dont need/want to take the time to build them.

but

Me personally, i dont like useing presets in my own songs and i get frustrated when i come across a synth WITHOUT an initilized patch to create presets from.

Either way, i think those who enjoy having full control of the sound will respect the IFF Synth and the features it offeres.
And for those who are looking for great preset sounds, i personally think the "Element of Suprise" synth is awsome!

Hmmm... I hadn't actually noticed that there were included waves in the synths until I read this thread.

I like it - I'm getting some quite mental noises out of it.
