I recently bought the wonderful Pettinhouse DirectBass sample set for Kontakt2 and I totally love the sound of it! The quality is fantastic!

One thing I think is missing in this set though is fret noises to make the bass guitar sound somewhat more "convincingly real" (at least when played solo or together with only a few other instruments). I was thinking maybe I could get hold of fret noise samples elsewhere and mix in with the DirectBass multis. What do you think? Maybe it's possible to rip out just the fret noises from another Bass set or so. Can you guys give me some tips or suggestions?

At least my version does have a release layer in which fret noises are quite prominent. but if you still like to have fret noises as an extra sound set and don't want to spend much (and get a very good sound set including a top class slapped bass): get the manytone ultimate bass set. but be aware that the fret noises there are not a sound layer but mapped to separate keys.

I've always been irritated by fret noises that are release samples. It's just not realistic at all. You should be able to control when you want fret noises.

As AKJ suggests, the Manytone Ultimate Bass Set has many fret noises (as well as other bass effects and bassisms), as does the recently released ManyBass--also made by Manytone music.

Thanks for the suggestions, AKJ and Greg! Actually, I already have Manytone UBK from before, but it's on Wusikstation format, so using it with Kontakt is no easy thing, or!?
