I'm having no trouble getting to the dld area - although it does take quite a while - my problem is that when the library dld gets to between 30 - 60% finished, it just stops. This has happened like 4 times. Guess I'll try back next week.

get flasget or any other download manager as it can resume dowloads and it is free

I don't know if he has a permission , but it's a very big forum so I think he knows what he is doing.

They said on their website that they will be releasing a cd of this content in a few weeks.

It will be available online and at dealers.

I'm guessing it will cost a few Dollars.

Thanks, JFN! I just got it! Man, I can't believe they've released this for free; I'm so excited to finally try Independence! We need more HQ sampler (sample-player?) options...

And we need extension libraries, the engine sounds great, and I'd without hesitation purchase a sound library with strings or something just to test how it sounds here.

Yeah! I'm just playing with it right now, and the first drum patch and the included reverb sound great. Hopefully this will open up their user base a bit...but I think they're just going with the universal import-type solution...?

Well, I just downloaded this from the German forum links that q7 listed above. All I can say is, what an AMAZING freebie.

I was skeptical about spending the time and effort to get a 2 gig download for another crappy disabled freebie, but I can happily report that this one is well worth the effort. I'm very tempted to go out on a limb and put this right at the top of the best freeware vst list.

I haven't had time yet to dissect the deeper sampler functions, other than to twiddle the FX knobs (and the FX are very good--nice smooth reverbs, 8 stage phase/flange, etc.), but here's a bit of a rundown on what to expect.

VERY usable patches for Elec. and Acc. Bass (with fret noise!), several Accoustic and electronic drum kits, a pristine set of E. pianos (the 'Pro' piano is very playable and could easily fit into a number of styles) , beautiful Accoustic and Spanish guitar emulations, and a host of world instruments and percussion loops.

All of the samples have obviously been given great care, with some interesting (and sometimes) unexpected articulations.

A nice surprise was a complete set of electric guitar power chords and articulated riffs that will, no doubt find plenty of use. Only criticism here is the ommission of at least some minor chords to go with the majors found here. Oh well, I guess you have to leave something out so folks will buy the full package!

There's also a host of synth emulations, arpeggiated patches, and even an onboard sequencer that doubles as a drum sequencer, similar to the 'latch key' kits in Kontakt 2. Haven't quite figured out how exactly this works yet, but there are some patches set up to get you going.

Overall, I think Yellow Tools has a real winner here. I imagine they will see quite a bit of business coming from users of Free that want the full package. Very nicely done.

BTW, I couldn't get near the official website for the download. The mirror set up above gave me no problems other than waiting for a free socket to open up.

Set up is a little tough to follow in the documentation. What you want to do is activate the installer which will set up the sampler and .dll file. It will also set up a folder called Free Basic Path (or something like that). In it, there's a folder called 'IMAGE FILES.' When you unpack the rest of the download (bduffy lists the files above) pull out the 8 .ytif files and drop 'em in the IMAGE FILES folder.

That's it. Fire it up, and you should be good to go. No authorization, registration or painful itch.

Enjoy this one, guys. It's really nice.

Hey - nice summary, BERFAB! Special thanks for explaining the install process (not sure how they expected us to know that; the pdf's I found after installing and running the dll...)

I quite agree with you on all points; some great sounds here (I too was surprised to hear fret noise release layers!), great internal effects and some very complex routing. I find the mixer a little confusing, but obviously, like Kontakt et al., I'll have to sit down and get familiar with this; but this is an excellent[/i] general-purpose library, great for writing ideas, and I envision plenty of these sounds becoming permament favourites in my projects. This thing makes Sampletank Free look like a cassette tape.

I did find some of the patches loaded a little slugglishly, even freezing my computer once, but it must be said my old beast is really starting to act up. All in all, it's VERY good on CPU. A loading progress bar would be appreciated, however.

I might have to take the full-version leap some day; this would be a welcome addition to the collection. However, with Kontakt 3 out, it'll have to wait.

also managed to dl this, great stuff!

but when i picked a power chord electric guitar
all in the sudden the volumen went up 1000%
and it almost blew up my speakers etc.
so watch it, it can be buggy when switching
instruments too fast!
