Any such a thing? I'd like at least 4 USB ports... Preferably 6 or more... 8 or 10 would be awesome.

Basically I want to use my extra firewire port (1 of my 2 firewire ports is used up by my soundcard... 1 of my three USB ports is used up by my keyboard and mouse, the other 2 are reserved for midi controllers/interfaces.... So I have one free firewire port...) to house dongles, and want to keep dongles from separate companies separate (so replacement if the dongle dies is quick and painless.)

Any such a thing exist? I've found some that connect to my computer that give 4 USB ports and 2 extra firewire ports, but I don't need any more firewire ports... I just need the USB ports... And preferably a lot of them.

Get a really cheap hub. And another one. Chain them to one USB port and connect all your dongles + keyboard + mouse to that. Keep the ports free for the stuff that matters...

Yeah. Apparently it is impossible to convert between firewire and USB. So I guess the other firewire port will be saved for... Who knows what. I have yet to find any useful musical gear that uses firewire instead of USB other than audio interfaces.

I guess I'll go for the 7 port self-powered hubs (which are the only ones you can chain) and will plug the keyboard and mouse into that along with the dongles... Then the other two USB ports will be for midi stuff I guess (or maybe I'll use one other hub for all midi interfaces and controllers if I get a virus TI or something else that needs a USB port)...

Luckily midi, dongles, and input devices all need way less overhead and bandwidth than audio.
